There are many different yoga classes and styles and picking the right fit can be overwhelming.  Here is a guide to help choose the right class that fits your specific needs.

Beginner Level Vinyasa Class:

Description: Vinyasa classes are designed to introduce yogis to the foundational postures. In a Power Vinyasa-style class you will hold postures for 3-5 breaths and get opportunities to flow through these postures connecting your breath to each movement.

Who Should Attend: Yogis who are new to their practice. If you’d like to learn the foundational poses or focus on improving your alignment, this is the class for you. Experienced yogis will also enjoy the challenge and intensity of flowing through class at a slower pace.

Helpful Tip: Set up your mat in a spot with a clear view of a mirror. Being able to check your alignment is very helpful when first beginning a regular yoga practice.

Advanced Vinyasa Class:

Description: Advanced Vinyasa classes build off of postures that students learn in beginner level classes. Expect to explore some advanced postures, try on some arm balances, inversions and get sweating. At CorePower Yoga, this class is taught in a heated room, which allows your body to stretch deeper and sweat out toxins.

Who Should Attend: New yogis should experience 5-10 beginner level Vinyasa classes before stepping into an advanced class. For more experienced practitioners, familiar with foundational yoga postures, this is the class for you.

Helpful Tip: Most advanced Vinyasa classes allow time to explore inversions. Let the instructor know if you’d like a little extra help learning a particular inversion, and they’ll be happy to give you some pointers.

Hot Yoga

Description: Hot Yoga is a series of 26 postures performed in precise order. It is set to music and practiced in a room heated to approximately 105 degrees. Hot Yoga stimulates the mind and shapes the body by incorporating strength and balancing postures.

Who Should Attend: This class is appropriate for students of all levels.

Helpful Tip: While it’s important to drink plenty of water before any class, it’s especially important before Hot Yoga. Drink up!

Yoga Sculpt

Description: Yoga Sculpt is a total body workout set to energizing music and designed to sculpt and tone every major muscle group. Free weights are added to a vinyasa sequence, creating resistance and intensifying each pose. Strength-training exercises such as squats, lunges, and bicep and tricep curls are incorporated to build lean muscle mass.

Who Should Attend: Those ready for a physical challenge, looking to sweat and burn calories. It’s important to have a good understanding of foundational yoga postures, so it’s recommended to have a few vinyasa classes under your belt before going to Yoga Sculpt.

Helpful Tip: Grab two sets of weights before class starts – one light set and one heavier set. If a posture is too challenging, switch to a lighter weight. If you’re up for the added challenge, use the heavier set.

Yin Yoga

Description: Yin Yoga classes focus on gently stretching and healing connective tissue through a series of holding postures. These postures never require strain or struggle and are similar to versions of relaxation and stretching poses practiced in other yoga classes.

Who Should Attend: Everyone. This low-impact style is suitable for all students.

Helpful Tip: This class is incredibly relaxing and is the perfect class to prepare you for bed.
