GetFileAttachment-6Active duty Arizona Marine Cpl. Scott Roguska will be the keynote speaker at the city’s 2015 Veterans Day Commemoration.

The event takes place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 E. Indian Bend Road. The program is free and open to the public.

From a young age, Roguska said he had two major interests — the military and visual media. Upon graduating from The Motion Picture Institute of Michigan in 2008, he served as the lead editor on the 2009 World War II documentary series “An Eagle Returns.”

Roguska enlisted in The United States Marine Corps in 2011with the aspiration of putting his talents toward a greater purpose.

The combat cameraman had his first tour of duty from 2012-2014 in Japan. He is now stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma where he serves as the Combat Camera Repro & Graphics Chief for Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron. Roguska and his wife Kendra are Scottsdale residents.

Roguska was also one of the artists who created the Marine Mural in September near Scottsdale’s Civic Center Library. The mural is one of the highlights of Marine Week, an event hosted in a different region each year by the Marine Corps to showcase who they are and what they do for the nation.

In addition to Roguska, the Veterans Day program will feature Scottsdale historian and former Marine Len Marcisz, who will talk about local military history. The 108th Army National Guard Band kicks off the program at 3 p.m. with a half-hour of patriotic music. Refreshments are provided courtesy of Shamrock Foods Company and the Wildflower Bread Company.
