Your 5 best bets for fun in Phoenix this week

Art Detour 27

This weekend long event gives the community a chance to explore and discover the art spaces of downtown Phoenix. Participants can take self guided tours that will highlight the hidden gems of Roosevelt Row. Artlink Phoenix will provide free tours with Ollie the Trolley. Pick up locations are at the Burton Barr Library, Cityscape, Arizona Center, and Oasis on Grand. For Sunday, Detour de Grand, an extension of Art Detour, will start at 10 a.m. with a group bike ride. Participants can bring their own bike or rent one from the GRID bike share. The route will follow the same route that the trolleys follow. Afterwards, local beers and bands will be featured alongside artists, shops and vendors.

Melrose on 7th Avenue Street Fair

The Seventh Avenue Merchants Association, SAMA, was first established in 2001. SAMA now presents the Melrose 7th Avenue Street Fair.  The event features over 150 vendors as well as over 200 classic cars. The one-day event encourages people to come out and discover the culture that the blocks have to offer. In addition to vendors, there will be local food and a beer garden. The event takes place from 11 a.m.- 6p.m.

Jerry Seinfeld

After a nine year run with the show “Seinfeld,” Jerry Seinfeld currently brings the excitement to his fans with his standup routine. His current act includes new bits as well as excerpts from his classic routines. Seinfeld will perform at 7p.m.

Palette to Palate

James and Wendy Porter have been advocates of the farm to table movement for over twelve years. The event Palette to Palate is an exclusive experience that brings chefs and visuals artists together. Featured chef Bob Tam of Bitter and Twisted alongside artist Randy Slack will work together to interpret each other’s work. Other artists and chefs will be paired across the Renaissance 6th floor balcony to prepare new works of culinary and art to satisfy the senses.

Aloha Festival

The two-day festival features performances, vendors, and activities that highlight Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. This annual event will play host to entertainment from around the state as well as guests from Hawaii, New Zealand, and the Cook Islands. Vendors will offer crafts and a variety of apparel ready for purchase. The event also features opportunities for guests to interact and get involved with artists and performers.
