Camouflage: No Longer For Your Grandpa (or the 90s)

Camouflage – the biggest new trend for Fall – is surprisingly versatile and adds a uniformed excitement to any look. Really. Remember when Lindsay Lohan’s character wore “camouflage pants and flip flops” in the movie Mean Girls? No? Good, because as much as we love us a good Tina Fey flick, any fashion associated with Lindsay Lohan should be forgotten. Let’s start anew.

Traditional bright green and olive tones are always G-StarRawMixedCamo-1an option when wearing camo – also, keep the rest of your ensemble light, clean and patternless, if possible – while interpretations of the print such as “flamo” – a camo-floral combo print – will be wildly popular come this Fall. Think G.I. Jane meets Barbie.

When wearing a large camouflage piece like this light trench coat from G-Star Raw, build the rest of your outfit around the jacket for a complete look.

Sometimes camouflage can seem overpowering. Try balancing out its strength with a bold color. A royal or cobalt blue will work great.

While traditional camouflage is classic and safe, have fun with the print, and opt for different tones. Expect to see blue, gray, white and black camouflage color combos this fall.


ForMyReason customizes Wristbands for Military

Local company ForMyReason, a provider of customizable silicone wristbands, announced partnerships with Soldiers‚ Angels, Friends of Freedom and Hope for the Warriors.  ForMyReason is selling camouflage and red, white and blue wristbands in the name of these organizations, to assist them with giving back to veterans, current service members and their families.  With each wristband order, 20 percent of the sale is donated to the named organization.

“We have created our customizable wristbands with charitable causes top-of-mind,” said ForMyReason Co-founder, Lisa Youngblood. “It is an honor to work with these organizations that contribute to the health and well-being of our country‚s past and present men and women of the armed forces, and their families.  We are excited to be offering a way for others in the community to show their support, as well.”

When a charitable cause partners with ForMyReason, a dedicated fundraiser web page is added to the ForMyReason website and a direct link to the fundraiser page to place on the cause‚s website is provided, both at no cost to the organization.  ForMyReason has forged partnerships with more than 10 charitable causes, in less than six months of business.

In addition to their online involvement, ForMyReason also participates on-site at charitable events, selling, or in many cases, donating wristbands to the cause at-hand.

Just in time for Memorial Day, ForMyReason attended Friends of Freedom’s 1st Annual Night Stalker 5K Walk for Warriors on May 18 and passed out complimentary wristbands featuring a photo frame that contained the Friends of Freedom logo to participants.  Funds raised from event ticket sales benefitted the No One Left Behind (NOLB) Center, which provides a place for veterans to find encouragement, advice and training, and entertainment and activities to help with the transition from military to civilian life.

Free customized wristbands were also provided to Hope for the Warriors and Soldiers‚ Angels for them to distribute for Memorial Day.

The Arizona Manufacturers Council and the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognized the achievements and contributions of four exceptional manufacturing companies at the 2012 Manufacturer of the Year Awards on May 11 at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Phoenix.

Manufacturer of the Year:
Suntron Corporation

Suntron CorporationPhoenix-based Suntron’s largest market segment is the defense industry. Larson Camouflage Dunn-Edwards Corporation

Larson CamouflageLarson — which has grown its business more than 200 percent in the past five years — has a history of coming up with increasingly creative and unusual ways to camouflage antennas for wireless network developers. Utility concealment components made by Larson include saguaros for Arizona customers, broad-leafed trees, palm trees and various conifers, complete with epoxy bark and realistic needles supplied by artificial Christmas tree manufacturers, and flagpoles. Larson works with site developers to ensure each project is being accurately designed, coordinated, fabricated and installed. Larson places the same emphasis on the appearance and integrity of its sites that each carrier places on the functionality of their network.

Among Larson’s more notable clients is Pebble Beach Golf Links. Larson was hired to build four snags, which were designed to look like trees that have been struck by lighting, because that’s what blends with the landscape there. As a result, the company brought 150 manufacturing jobs to the area in the fields of engineering, process control, instrument technician, research and development, information technology and machine operation. The 336,000-square-foot plant manufacturing facility is the world’s first LEED Gold-certified manufacturing facility. The company was awarded the coveted LEED Gold-certification in June of 2011. LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. Recycled materials were used to build the facility. The operations design incorporates innovative technology for the reuse of manufacturing by-products. Products manufactured at the Phoenix facility use the latest and greatest green technology made from renewable resources.
