Forever 21 joins The Shops at Town & Country

The Shops at Town & Country has revitalized the corner of 20th Street and Camelback Road with a multi-phase redevelopment that includes opening 95,000 square-feet of retail and restaurant space since 2012. The current phase of the development will add another 40,000+ square-feet that is scheduled to open by the end of 2015.

Forever 21 is the newest retailer to join The Shops at Town & Country with their first location in the Biltmore area. The 18,500 square foot store will be the company’s new F21 red concept. F21 red, which was designed to respond to growing customer demands for Forever 21 staples, delivers a deeper inventory of fashion basics. The F21 red store is intended to create an easy shopping experience for the entire family with an assortment of fashion staples from each of the Forever 21 lines, including Forever 21, Forever 21 Men, Forever 21 Plus, and Forever 21 Girls.

The Shops at Town & Country will also welcome Paper Source, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, and Nekter Juice Bar to the property later this year. Paper Source is a premier paperie and gift retailer offering a curated selection of fine papers, custom invitations and announcements, distinctive gifts, quirky greeting cards, gift wrap, paper craft kits, party supplies and personalized stationery and stamps. Hopdoddy serves mindfully sourced, ground in-house, antibiotic and hormone free Angus burgers on buns baked fresh all day, alongside hand-cut Kennebec fries, farm fresh salads and craft milkshakes. Nekter Juice Bar features all-natural, raw, vegan juices and smoothies in addition to offerings with salads, quinoa and açai bowls alongside multiday cleanse products.

Announced earlier this summer, at 24,500 square-feet, The Container Store will feature more than 10,000 innovative storage and organization solutions for every area of the home. The store will be divided into 16 lifestyle sections, including kitchen, closet, office, garage and their exclusive shelving system, elfa®. The new Town & Country location will feature The Container Store’s new luxury closet line, TCS Closets, which is an exclusive collection of solid, custom-built closet solutions. Customers will also be able to take advantage of personalized, in-home design and organization expertise. This location will be the retailer’s fourth store in the state of Arizona.

Adjacent to The Container Store and also previously announced earlier this summer, Orvis will open a 5,000 square foot location. Founded in 1856, Orvis is America’s oldest mail-order outfitter and longest continually-operating fly-fishing business. Orvis retail stores offer a wide assortment of men’s and women’s sportswear, fine gifts and home furnishings, luggage and travel accessories, as well as fine shotguns, gear, and technical apparel for wingshooting and sporting clays.

“The addition of these unique retailers fit the needs of the community while enhancing The Shops at Town & Country overall eclectic retail mix,” said James Shough, partner for The Shops at Town & Country. “This historic property has served the Biltmore area since 1959, and will continue to grow with the community’s needs.”

Dress to Impress at Work: Style by Vanessa Renee

Unfortunately, most of us spend 40 plus hours a week in the office, and the way we dress makes a huge impression towards how people perceive us. If you want to get to the top, you better dress like you are already there.

These work outfits are colorful, unique, and professional. Most importantly, all of these outfits will definitely get you noticed at work! I want to show you some fierce ways for dressing to impress using something other then the typical, plain old black and gray attire. I hope these styles will inspire you to create some of your own work looks!

Outfit 1

I am in love with this outfit. It is extremely classy and stylish in my eyes. Ashley is wearing a tan Banana Republic skirt, paired with a Forever 21 striped button down blouse. Her necklace is a recent purchase from TJ Maxx, and I layered it with a Vanessa Renee side cross necklace from www.vanessareneestyle.com. She is carrying a Michael Kors work bag, and wearing nude pumps from Aldo. Nude pumps should be a staple in your wardrobe. If you don’t already own some, immediately go invest in a great pair! (right)

Outfit 2

This outfit is a little funky, but right on trend! Ashley is wearing a navy skirt from The Limited. Additionally, I dressed her in a plaid top from H&M, Tory Burch flats, a black Michael Kors watch, and chunky gold bracelet from TJ Maxx. The statement pearl necklace is from Stella Dot, and is the perfect touch of feminine that this outfit needs. We layered it with the Vanessa Renee side cross necklace from www.vanessareneestyle.com. The last pop that this outfit needed was the red messenger bag from Dillards. You can also carry a more neutral color with this if you tend to be a little more reserved. The best part about this outfit? You can throw on some navy or black skinny jeans and make it casual for after work fun! (left)

Outfit 3

White is a huge trend for spring right now, and these tailored slacks from The Limited are a good work staple to have. I paired these white pants with a classic light pink, striped Brooks Brothers button down for an ultra professional look. Always remember that vertical strips can be very flattering, especially when being paired with bold white pants. Also, I added a touch of chic pearls to complete this look. This look could be great for a work conference, seminar, or luncheon. You will definitely make a great impression! (right)

Outfit 4

 Feminine Leather

Leather has been a huge trend this year, and can be pulled off in a classy way when paired with the right pieces. I thought this Chiffon feminine pink top from Nordstrom Rack balanced the leather out perfectly. I used one of the statement necklaces from my www.vanessareneestyle.com website to tie the look together. (left)

Outfit 5

This look is a mix of the Spring nautical trend with a pop of color. This is a Nordstrom savvy skirt, and is paired with a striped navy collared shirt from Forever 21. A popular trend right now is buttoning blouses all the way to the top to look extra sleek. As you can see, stripes are really in this Spring and can create a ultimately flattering look. (right)

Sassy Golf Fashion Tips

Golf Fashion Tips From Sassy Golf: Traditional & Modern

When you think of the sport “golf,” I’m going to bet that you are thinking about older, stuffy rich men rocking bland, ill-fitted khakis and polo shirts. And the women are worse ― fit the same profile but with an attitude. But, as every intelligent individual learns in life, stereotypes don’t always fit the bill. Take my league for example: Sassy Golf.

Sassy Golf is all about fun, friendship and stress-free competition. We’re a league of our own, so it’s only natural to assume that we are making a statement on the course as well ― a fashion statement, that is. Who says you have to look like frumpy, old women to respect the traditional dress code? I’m going to show you how to look fashionable and fabulous on the course, instead of fugly and frumpy.

Now don’t get me wrong here; I’m not suggesting you show up looking like Lady Gaga. I’m just encouraging you to have fun with it. Let your outfit match your experience. That can be anything from a small twist on the traditional to really standing out and sassing it up.

Below are golf fashion tips and tricks to creating a look that accentuates your personal style.

Traditional with a twist

First, it is not in my intention to bash on traditional golf wear. Traditional is fashionable but just needs a bit of a facelift. The key to pulling off the traditional look successfully is making sure all of the pieces fit correctly. Some of you may be thinking, “well, duh,” but you would be amazed how many people fall victim to this fashion “don’t” ― the No. 1 fashion “don’t,” in my opinion.

As David Meister, celebrity fashion designer and dress guru, says: “I always tell people that you can take a $10 dress, and if it’s altered beautifully to your body, it can look amazing. And you can take a $10,000 gown, and if it doesn’t fit, it looks like 10 bucks.”

Below are some examples for the updated traditional. To the left, we have we have a pair of Old Navy khaki shorts for $19.94 paired with a 3/4-sleeve argyle sweater from Lacoste for $119.99. And to the right, we have black-and-white plaid Bermuda shorts found on eBay for $27.99 paired with a pink, Johnny-collared polo found on Amazon.com for $10.95.

Also, color is always a safe way to add a twist, and I know most pieces come in a variety of colors ― so play all you want.

Make them look twice

This section is for those of you who want to wear something that will draw a little attention, but nothing too extreme. The best way to achieve this look is with bold colors/patterns and accessories.

You could either pair this with a form-fitting tank-top underneath, or go a more traditional route with a polo. Choose what matches your style most.
Another optional piece for this outfit is adding a skinny belt around your waist, like the one on the right from Nordstrom for $38. These could not be more trendy right now, and it’s a great way to accentuate your shape. Or, check out the fun pattern on this tennis-like skirt from Lululemon for $68. It has shorts underneath, but if you still feel like it’s a little too short and tight, try getting it a size or two larger.Nordstrom-$38Lululemon-$68

Sass it up!

This section is dedicated to all my bold fashionistas out there that like to have fun, stand out and be different. My advice is this: Mix and match, and find different pieces that speak to you.

AmazonSomething that speaks to me is this unique, asymmetrical, cutout turtleneck from Amazon.com for $34.99. I could not be more excited to show you this. It’s sexy and conservative at the same time, and it respects the traditional dress code. Just remember, if you have your shoulders covered, you do not need a collar. So a sporty tank top isn’t appropriate, while a sleeveless polo is completely fine. The best thing to do with a statement piece like that turtleneck is to pair it with something simple, like those Old Navy shorts or a plain tennis skirt.

Or, try something like I have below. I love this cropped, hot-pink cardigan from Forever 21 for $13.80. It’s a bold/traditional fusion. The color allows you to stand out, and the fact that it’s cropped helps you show off your body. I’ve paired it with Lululemon’s groove pants for $98. I have to rave about these. Not only are they comfortable and make anyone’s legs and butt look amazing, but you can also dress them up. I wear them everywhere. A longer tank top under the cardigan would be my suggestion because then you can take the sass a step further with a hip-slung, chain-link belt like the one below from Nordstrom for $225.

Following these fail-safe tips, you’re sure to look fashionable and fantastic. It’s all about fun and feeling great while having it. Until next time, Sassanistas.

Be strong, be smart, be sassy!

Work-to-Play Wardrobe

3 Must-Haves For Your Summer Work-to-Play Wardrobe

It’s that time of the year again — summertime in Arizona. Grueling, sun-filled days and long steamy nights. No guilt attached for orchestrating an impromptu happy hour with friends or co-workers to replenish after the days drudgery.

With this enduring season officially upon us, putting together a versatile, elegant work-to-play wardrobe can be a challenge. To save you frustration and time, we’ve listed three affordable, must-haves for your summer wardrobe, along with trendy examples of how to wear and accessorize each selection.

These easy-to-achieve looks will take you seamlessly from day to night, without breaking a sweat!

The Floral Blazer

This piece will look great paired with just about anything. But for a polished, professional look, try a sleek black or grey pencil skirt (or even a pair of loose trouser shorts) matched with a flowing, brightly-colored tank. Finish the look with some strappy, nude sandals or peep-toe wedges.

Ditch the blazer, and showcase your brilliant tank top. Add that “wow” factor by applying a vibrant lip (reds and pastels are very in this season). When it comes to spicing up your outfit, accessorizing is simple and very effective. A cute, sequined clutch or a chunky, turquoise necklace will do the trick.

Cropped Pastel Pants

If you’re even remotely attuned to fashion trends, than you’re no stranger to the pastel cropped pants craze. There are several different variations of this pant (a trouser and a more casual approach), and either would work great for the office.

Pair the pant with a sleek, earthy-hued racerback. Throw on some comfortable, glossy flats, and add some loose, beach wave curls to top off the look.

Bring this look to the next level by replacing your reliable flats with a pair of metallic espadrilles or bright, patent-leather slingbacks. Add a bold, delicate necklace and a shoulder bag to complete the outfit.

Bold Print Dress

The luxury of a bold print dress is that you can find just about any shape or cut, making it incredibly easy to flatter any body type. Take this dress to work by adding a featherweight, short-sleeved cardigan. A pair of neutral booties adds polish and keeps the focus on the dress pattern.

Retire the cardigan and throw your hair up into a messy, braided bun. Add a set of bold earrings (be sure they don’t conflict with the pattern or color of your dress) to seal the deal.

Where to look for your work-to-play wardrobe:

Thanks to the present popularity for such items, many local stores, including H&M, Gap, Forever 21, J.Crew, Banana Republic and Nordstrom, have mastered these chic, unique pieces.
