The Shout! House to Host Shout! For Hotshots Fundraiser July 19

In response to the Yarnell Hill Fire tragedy that claimed the lives of 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots, The Shout! House at Westgate is hosting a fundraiser at 7 p.m. July 19. The Shout! For Hotshots event will benefit the 100 Club of Arizona’s Survivors Fund, which assists with travel expenses for the fallen firefighters families, replacement safety equipment for the fire departments, needs for injured firefighters and their families, peer support/counseling, scholarships, and any other immediate or future needs.

“We want Shout! for Hotshots to be a fun and uplifting celebration of the lives of these heroes. As a former Yarnell Firefighter, I know that’s how these men would want it,” said Mike Wombolt, General Manger for The Shout! House. “It’s a way for everyone to come together and support a cause close to their hearts, while honoring these fallen firefighters.”

Throughout the evening, The Shout! House has created many opportunities for raising funds for the charity. From 7 to 9 p.m., the venue’s usual $5 cover charge will be donated to the 100 Club of Arizona. Area fire departments will be loaning boots so The Shout! House can hold a “fill the boot” drive to collect additional donations. Plus, the performers will hold a donation-request- driven piano duel. The Shout! House will also be donating a percentage of sales from the evening to the Survivors Fund.

The Shout! House is a non-stop, audience request driven show where singers face one another at dueling pianos, playing classic rock ‘n’ roll hits to today’s popular music. Typically a 21-and-over venue, The Shout! House is making an exception for the evening so the entire community can support the fundraiser. From 7 to 9 p.m., those under the age of 21 will be admitted to The Shout! House, and the cover charge will be waived for kids under the age of 18.

The venue will honor the fallen firefighters by displaying a special memorial banner, and the staff will be wearing commemorative t-shirts. To keep the party going all night long, there will $1 Fireball Cinnamon Whisky shots from 7 to 9 p.m. and half off bottles of wine and liquor and buckets of beer from open to close. The bar is also collecting gift certificates and items from various businesses to raffle off to raise additional funds for the 100 Club of Arizona.

“So that we can raise as much money as possible for the 100 Club of Arizona Survivors Fund, we are continuing to collect items from area businesses that we can include in the raffle. If anyone would like to get involved, we’d welcome the donation of gift certificates, gift baskets, autographed sports memorabilia or any other items that can be included,” said Wombolt.

The Shout! House is located in the Westgate Entertainment District.

Renegade by MOD Hosts Fundraiser for Arizona's 19 Fallen Heroes

Just two days after the names of 19 fallen firefighters were released to the public in the wake of the still-burning Yarnell Fire in Central Ariz., community members from all over the Valley are stepping in to help families of the victims and Scottsdale chef Michael O’Dowd and business partner Ed Leclere are no exception.

This Friday and Saturday, Renegade by MOD restaurant in Scottsdale will hold fundraising events for the Yarnell Hill Fire relief effort. On both days, Renegade by MOD will donate five percent of the entire day’s sales to a fund set up through the 100 Club of Arizona, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing funds and other services to families and victims of public safety officers.

Additionally, the restaurant will host a “Fill The Boot” party on both evenings inside the MOD bar, which will feature live entertainment from The New Brothers Band on Friday and Jared Blackstone on Saturday. Leclere and O’Dowd will ask that a minimum five dollar donation be placed inside the giant firefighter boots on display before entering the fundraising event in the lounge. Additional boots will be placed on the bar for guests who wish to give a little extra throughout the evening. One hundred percent of all donations will go to the 100 Club fund, providing relief to the families of the fallen firemen.

An avid supporter of the work that firefighters do all across the state, this isn’t the first time Leclere has held a “Fill The Boot” campaign.

“In March, we held a St. Patty’s Day party to raise funds for the families of fallen firefighters from Chandler, Mesa and Surprise and netted $1,100 in donations in one night. We’re hoping to crush that number this weekend – there are 19 families who need our support up north,” said Leclere.

Both Harley enthusiasts and riders, Leclere and O’Dowd have spent countless hours cruising through Central and Northern Arizona and are stunned by the fire’s destruction.

“Ed and I have spent many days driving up Highway 89 and winding through some of the most amazing scenery and charming towns we’ve ever seen,” said O’Dowd. “We are not only saddened at the unexpected loss of homes and businesses in Yarnell Hill, but at the astonishing loss of life caused by the fire. We proudly honor the fallen 19 firefighters of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and through the help of the 100 Club, intend to send aid to the families who mourn their loss.”

Patrons wishing to support the relief effort at Renegade by MOD can visit the restaurant from 2 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6. Live entertainment will kick off the “Fill The Boot” party both evenings at 7 p.m. inside the MOD Bar. Renegade by MOD is located at 9343 E Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale.
