MARICOPA COUNTY DOWNTOWN COURT TOWER

The $259M court tower will house 32 courtrooms, with unique design elements that make it more efficient and user-friendly for the public. Construction on the 16-story tower began Nov. 2008, with an estimated completion date of Nov. 2011. Subcontractors so far include Dickens Quality Demolition, Code One Construction and Buesing Company.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENT MUSEUM
Developer: Musical Instrument Museum
The $135M, 2-story development will house more than 5,000 musical instruments from around the world. Construction began in Feb. 2008 and finishes this February. Subcontractors include Arizona State Utilities, ISS Grounds Control, Riggs Contracting, Progressive Concrete, Sun Valley Masonry, Walters & Wolf, Torrent Resources and WD Manor Mechanical Contractors.
DESERT GATEWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
Developer: Desert Gateway Baptist Church
The $3M development consists of 3 buildings — a sanctuary with seating for 600, education/fellowship building and an administrative building. Construction began in May 2009 and finishes in February. Subcontractors include State Electric, Avila Masonry, Metro Mechanical & Plumbing and Ikon Steel.
Developer: Frontera Development
Phase I is being constructed on 13 acres and includes a 40,000 SF Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, a 13,000 SF CVS Pharmacy and 17,500 SF of shop space. Phase II will be 21 acres with future development for 200,000 SF of retail space. Wal-Mart and CVS will open by 3Q10 within the $10.5M marketplace. Construction began Nov. 2009, with an estimated Sept. 2010 completion. Brokerage firm is Frontera Development.
NAVAJO COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Developer: Navajo County
Construction on the $3M facility began Aug. 2009, with completion scheduled for April 2010. The development will provide a much-needed contemporary and centralized healthcare option to County residents. [merz]project also designed the Show Low City Hall and Public Library projects in the area.
Developer: Chang Family Interests
The $6M multi-phased project includes demolition of the previous restaurant site, expansion of existing Trader Joe’s and addition of 10,000 SF of retail space. The center will be fully operational during construction, which started July 2009 and finishes in March. Subcontractors include BMF Masonry, K-10 Framing, Copper King Electric, Sandstorm-Gam Construction and Riggs Companies.
SONORAN CREEK MARKETPLACE
Developer: Desert Cedars
Infrastructure construction on the 100,000 SF to 150,000 SF shopping center began Aug. 2009 and finishes in January. The site still needs a Junior Anchor before it can go vertical. Brokerage firm is Gilligan Commercial.
