Dress to Impress at Work: Style by Vanessa Renee

Unfortunately, most of us spend 40 plus hours a week in the office, and the way we dress makes a huge impression towards how people perceive us. If you want to get to the top, you better dress like you are already there.

These work outfits are colorful, unique, and professional. Most importantly, all of these outfits will definitely get you noticed at work! I want to show you some fierce ways for dressing to impress using something other then the typical, plain old black and gray attire. I hope these styles will inspire you to create some of your own work looks!

Outfit 1

 Neutral

I am in love with this outfit. It is extremely classy and stylish in my eyes. Ashley is wearing a tan Banana Republic skirt, paired with a Forever 21 striped button down blouse. Her necklace is a recent purchase from TJ Maxx, and I layered it with a Vanessa Renee side cross necklace from www.vanessareneestyle.com. She is carrying a Michael Kors work bag, and wearing nude pumps from Aldo. Nude pumps should be a staple in your wardrobe. If you don’t already own some, immediately go invest in a great pair! Outfit 2

 Trendy

This outfit is a little funky, but right on trend! Ashley is wearing a navy skirt from The Limited. Additionally, I dressed her in a plaid top from H&M, Tory Burch flats, a black Michael Kors watch, and chunky gold bracelet from TJ Maxx. The statement pearl necklace is from Stella Dot, and is the perfect touch of feminine that this outfit needs. We layered it with the Vanessa Renee side cross necklace from www.vanessareneestyle.com. The last pop that this outfit needed was the red messenger bag from Dillards. You can also carry a more neutral color with this if you tend to be a little more reserved. The best part about this outfit? You can throw on some navy or black skinny jeans and make it casual for after work fun! (left)

Outfit 3

 Stripes

White is a huge trend for spring right now, and these tailored slacks from The Limited are a good work staple to have. I paired these white pants with a classic light pink, striped Brooks Brothers button down for an ultra professional look. Always remember that vertical strips can be very flattering, especially when being paired with bold white pants. Also, I added a touch of chic pearls to complete this look. This look could be great for a work conference, seminar, or luncheon. You will definitely make a great impression! (right)

Outfit 4

 Feminine Leather

Leather has been a huge trend this year, and can be pulled off in a classy way when paired with the right pieces. I thought this Chiffon feminine pink top from Nordstrom Rack balanced the leather out perfectly. I used one of the statement necklaces from my www.vanessareneestyle.com website to tie the look together. (left)

Outfit 5

Nautical

This look is a mix of the Spring nautical trend with a pop of color. This is a Nordstrom savvy skirt, and is paired with a striped navy collared shirt from Forever 21. A popular trend right now is buttoning blouses all the way to the top to look extra sleek. As you can see, stripes are really in this Spring and can create a ultimately flattering look. (right)

Fall Fashion Shoot Behind the Scenes

Behind The Scenes: Fall Fashion Photo Shoot [PHOTOS]

Herve Leger, RED Valentino, Michael Kors and more — with such fabulous clothing, shoes and accessories from both Nordstrom and Astor & Black, Scottsdale Living teamed up with a fantastic group of people last Thursday, August 23, and camped out for the day at Talking Stick Resort’s Orange Sky for its Fall 2012 issue’s fall fashion photo shoot.

And the nearly two-month process paid off. The models from JANI Model Management, Michael, Trisha, Sheniece, Nemi, Michael and Nick, looked incredible in their respective outfits; the hairstylist and makeup artist, Randee Miller and Joanna Avillar for Mane Attraction Salon, respectively, stunningly transformed the models; Katie McEndoo of Astor & Black provided and styled the men into a seemingly Mad Men-inspired look; and Kira Brown complemented the dresses with fitting shoes and accessories — all from Nordstrom at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

Not to mention the location was a beautiful backdrop to it all. The location, Orange Sky, couldn’t have been more perfect with its sleek, chic lounges and private dining areas; and let’s not forget about that view from its outdoor patio — especially during sunset.

Scottsdale Living would like to thank the team, including the photographers (Mike Mertes Cory Bergquist and Glory Shim) who captured the jaw-dropping images that will grace the pages of Scottsdale Living’s Fall 2012 issue.

Keep an eye out for it in October. We’re sure it will be difficult to miss on the stands at AJ’s and Bashas’ throughout the North Scottsdale and Paradise Valley area.

Resort Wear

Resort Wear Fashion For Everyday Style

We may not be regular jet-setters or packing our bags for a vacation in Saint Tropez, but that doesn’t have to stop us from incorporating the effortless and inherently versatile flow of resort wear fashion into our everyday outfits.

Resort wear has come a long way since matching Hawaiian shirts for couples and rainbow hibiscus flowers scattering our vacation threads. Now seen across the globe on any given day, resort wear fashion doesn’t have to stereotypically represent sought after beach vacations.

Characterized as “nautical,” resort wear can also be called “cruisewear.” Designed with the affluent touch of sailing of the shores of Capri or jet setting to the Caribbean, this lively trend has graced the runways of New York, Paris and Milan inspired by the faraway coastal islands and exotic escapes of our dreams.

Easy, breezy

Resort Wear: Kate Spade purse from Nordstrom Graciously welcomed into our wardrobes, resort wear 2012 incorporates influences of this spring’s lively mixed prints, color blocking, shades of neon and pastel and vivacious bold art-deco-inspired graphics. Materials typically range from no-fuss light cottons, poplin and silk, to microfiber and straw accessories.

No longer just reserved for the sunny beach get-away, resort wear has Resort Wear: Pleated Dress from Les Nouvelles held onto its easy maintenance requirements — which can partly explain why this trend is loved year-round. Typically designed for being stuffed away in suitcases, resort wear is by nature light, breathable, easy to pack and clean with little to no ironing necessary.

For the ladies

Women’s resort wear fashion can range from playful loose skirts and tops, to full-length evening dresses with room to breathe — perfect for that hot, Resort Wear: Bugatchi Uomo Shirt from Nordstrom Arizona summer creeping up on us. Additionally, accessories are often brightly animated with large hats, sunglasses and open-toe heals or strappy sandals. To go along with this casual trend, loose hairstyles like messy curls are perfect for both day and night.

Men’s resort wear

Men’s resort wear fashion incorporates fun colored short and pants with boat shoes and a light dinner jacket for the evening. For a dose of St. Moritz style, light white trousers, a striped Resort Wear: Sperry Top-Siderscollard shirt and rubber-soled loafers complete a resort wear-inspired men’s outfit.

With unique looks designed for function, brands such as J. Crew, Banana Republic and Tommy Bahama have pioneered this bold trend. More recently, other leading designers such as Chanel, Michael Kors, Anna Sui, Prada and Oscar de la Renta have been hot on the pursuit of stylish resort wear fashion.
