Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner earns honor

Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner, P.C. has been named the Small Business Honoree of the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce’s 29th Annual Sterling Awards. The Scottsdale Chamber announced this year’s honorees at a ceremony Friday at the Chaparral Suites Resort in Scottsdale.

“The Sterling Awards are among the most credible of all business award competitions in the metro Phoenix area,” according to the Scottsdale Chamber. A panel of six judges scores finalists on their application answers, narrowing the field to three per category. Each of those finalists then presents to the judging panel on-site at their places of business. Growth, success, creativity, innovation, uniqueness, corporate culture, adaptability to economic change, impact and contributions to the community are among the factors judges consider when selecting honorees.

“We’re very grateful to the Scottsdale Chamber for recognizing Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner as the 29th Annual Sterling Awards Small Business winner. This is a huge honor for our firm to receive one of the most prestigious business awards in Arizona. Attorney Scott J. Richardson, a partner at Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner, P.C., one of North Scottsdale’s largest law firms, was a featured presenter at The Forensic Expert Witness Annual Conference and Symposium held April 24-26 at the Tempe Mission Palms. The event was hosted by The Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA), a national organization dedicated to the professional development, ethics, and promotion of forensic consultants in all fields of discipline.

Richardson’s presentation was titled: Depositions & Cross Examinations — How to Excel.

“The Forensic Expert Witness Annual Conference & Symposium brings together some of the top lawyers and experts across the country so that we can learn from our peers to better serve our clients,” said Scott Richardson, Partner at Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner, P.C.

“To share the stage as a presenter with so many of our industry’s nationally recognized leaders was an honor.”

Richardson is an AV-Preeminent rated attorney and has practiced Insurance Law and Administrative Law in Arizona for 27 years.

Richardson began his career as a court courier for a law firm in Illinois in 1971. After graduating from DePaul University in 1974 with his J.D. degree, he joined the firm as an associate, working his way up to equity partner. Moving to Arizona in 1986, he developed the reputation as one of the foremost attorneys in Insurance Law including coverage issues, not only in Arizona but across the nation.

He also continues to work extensively in Administrative matters including pest control, landscape contracting, and a myriad of other agencies in Arizona. He is the former chair of the Administrative Law section of the State Bar of Arizona, and serves as Counsel and lobbyist to the Arizona Pest Management Association the Arizona Landscape Contractors’ Association. In addition, he has authored numerous articles and books related to the pest-control and landscape industry. He also teaches courses approved for credit by the Office of Pest Management of the State of Arizona.

Richardson’s practice focuses on Insurance Law and Administrative Law including Pest Control and Landscape Law, in which he has received national recognition.

Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner, P.C., one of North Scottsdale’s largest law firms, announced it is making a $1,000 donation to Tempe-based Children’s Cancer Network as part of a campaign making five donations in five weeks to celebrate the firm’s fifth anniversary.
“The Children’s Cancer Network provides financial, educational and psychosocial support to children and families dealing with childhood cancer,” said Greg Gillis, Partner at Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner. “Hopefully our donation will help local children and families struggling with a recent cancer diagnosis.”

“Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner has long been an active supporter of the community, and specifically to the Children’s Cancer Network,” said Patti Luttrell, Executive Director of Children’s Cancer Network.  “We’re grateful for their ongoing financial and volunteer efforts to help local children and families battling childhood cancer.”

Celebrating its anniversary by making donations to local non-profits fits with the firm’s belief that its rapid growth is a direct credit to its talented staff and their personal and professional commitment to community involvement.  This commitment to community is in addition to the firm’s year-round donations and volunteer efforts.

Richardson Joins Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner As Partner

He is also active in his local school district and was Founder of the Horizon High School Booster Club, Founding Board Member of the Paradise Valley Education Foundation, Founder of Farewell Fiesta (an all-night drug and alcohol free party for Horizon High School graduates, attended annually by 1000 students and now in its 21st year), and Chairman of the Foundation for Public Education in the Paradise Valley School District.
