W.J. Maloney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Gets Contract For Phoenix Sky Train Project

W.J. Maloney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling has been awarded a contract for plumbing construction in the next component of the Phoenix Sky Train at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

W.J. Maloney was awarded the contract from the McCarthy Kiewit Joint Venture to install the drainage system for the new elevated guide way connecting Terminal 4 to Terminal 3.

Previously W.J. Maloney had completed the roof drain piping, water piping, waste and vent, grease waste and condensate piping for the 44th Street Station, the Light Rail Terminal, the East Economy Lot and the large bridges spanning over various roads and airplane taxiways and runways.

“Not all plumbing contractors have the resources, track-record and certifications to complete work on such large-scale public sector projects,” said Kathryn “Kitty” Maloney-Langmade, president of W.J. Maloney.  “We have demonstrated our ability to meet the high standards required on projects of this scale.”

The new $330M PHX Sky Train Stage 1 is comprised of three stations located at Terminal 4, the East Economy Lot parking near 44th and Washington streets. It will move passengers from the Valley Metro Light Rail station to Terminal 4. When Stage 2 is complete, it will extend service to the remaining terminals and rental car facility. Stage 1 completion date is set for May 2012.
