Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner, P.C., announced that three of the firm’s lawyers, Randy Nussbaum, Greg Gillis and Dean Dinner, were named 2015 Southwest Super Lawyers while a fourth lawyer, John Parzych, was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star.  All are multi-year repeat award recipients.

Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.

Randy Nussbaum’s areas of practice include complex bankruptcy law, real estate, construction, and contract law. Mr. Nussbaum is a certified specialist in bankruptcy law by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization and is also certified specialist in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification.  He has earned the title of Super Lawyer for nine consecutive years.

Greg Gillis’ areas of practice include construction law, commercial collection, real estate law, and bankruptcy litigation which he has performed in Arizona for more than 26 years. During that time, he has appeared and litigated cases in 13 of Arizona’s 14 county superior courts.  This is his second year being named a Super Lawyer.

Dean Dinner’s practice has emphasized bankruptcy law, creditor-debtor rights, workouts, commercial transactions and commercial litigation. He is certified as a Bankruptcy Specialist by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization. His experience in the bankruptcy field is extensive, involving representation of secured creditors, surety companies, unsecured creditors, creditor committees, lessors, trustees and debtors in Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 proceedings. He first earned the honor of being named a Super Lawyer in 2007, and has received the honor seven years.    

John Parzych’s practice areas include representing individuals and businesses in bankruptcy, commercial real estate workouts and short sales, assisting secured creditors with recovery of assets in state and federal court, bankruptcy litigation in adversary proceedings, and representing clients in commercial and consumer collection matters.  This is John’s fourth consecutive year earning the recognition of Super Lawyers’ Rising Star.

Super Lawyers: Kercsmar & Feltus

Kercsmar & Feltus, PLLC, a Scottsdale based litigation boutique, announced this week that seven of its attorneys were selected as either Super Lawyers or Southwest Rising Stars by the preeminent lawyer ranking service, Super Lawyers.

Less than five percent of the state’s lawyers are ranked Super Lawyers. Kercsmar & Feltus’ founders Geoffrey Kercsmar and Todd Feltus were selected for their excellence in business litigation.  Greg Collins was honored in the category of intellectual property litigation. 

Four Kercsmar & Feltus attorneys were recognized as Southwest Rising Stars. Attorneys Carrie Kercsmar, Julia Guinane and Molly Eskay were selected in the category of business litigation and Sean O’Hara was selected for his work in intellectual property litigation.

Southwest Super Lawyers: Greenberg Traurig

The Phoenix office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has 19 attorneys on the 2015 Super Lawyers list, an independent rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas. In addition, the publication named six Greenberg Traurig attorneys as Southwest Rising Stars.

Ryley Carlock Attorneys Named to Southwest Super Lawyers

Phoenix Litigation Attorney Receives Top Rating

Nathan D. Meyer, Partner at Jaburg & Wilk, P.C., has been selected as a “2013 Top Rated Lawyer in Commercial Litigation” by Martindale-Hubbell™ and American Lawyer Media.

Meyer received the distinction based upon his peer review rating as “AV Preeminent,” the highest rating in legal ability and ethical standards from Martindale-Hubbell.

Super Lawyers recently named Meyer a “Rising Star,” an honor bestowed upon the best Arizona attorneys 40 or younger and awarded to no more than 2.5% of eligible attorneys.

Meyer’s practice areas include Commercial Litigation, Insurance Coverage & Bad Faith, General Liability Litigation and Professional Liability. Sports Commission names new leader

The Phoenix Regional Sports Commission (PRSC) has named Katie Brown as its new president and executive director.

Brown joins PRSC after serving as secretary, general counsel and a member of the PRSC Executive Board for the last six months, and serving as a board member for the past two years. She is a licensed attorney with more than a decade of diverse experience in athletic administration, with expertise in sports law, operations, fundraising and NCAA compliance.

“We are pleased to name Katie to this position,” said PRSC Board Chairman Garry Hays.  “Her experience and passion for sports will help her lead the Commission and its mission: grassroots sports tourism, youth athletic development and driving economic impact into the Phoenix community.”

Prior to joining PRSC, Brown served as an associate attorney for Polsinelli Shughart, PC in Phoenix, representing both individuals and companies in complex commercial litigation, contract negotiations and business transactions.  During her tenure, Brown was recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in 2012 and 2013.  Before that, she worked in the legal department at Mesa Airlines, Inc.  Her sports career includes ties to the athletic departments at both Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, for which she served as the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations and Camp Director.  She was also previously the Assistant Director of Football Operations at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Brown earned her juris doctorate in 2008 from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in Tempe.  While pursuing her degree, Brown served as president and Symposium chairman of the Sports and Entertainment Law Student Association, for which she organized various events discussing the legal issues that arise in sports, including an annual symposium that featured prominent sports executives from around the Valley.  She is a 2000 graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance.  She was also a track and field athlete, and earned All-Conference honors both on the track and in the classroom.  She earned a master’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Sport Administration in 2003 from the University of North Carolina at

Chapel Hill.  While at the University of North Carolina, Brown received a research grant from the National Association of Basketball Coaches to complete her thesis, titled “An Analysis of the 2002 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Bracketing Procedures.” For this research she was awarded the 2003 John E. Billing Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award, and the research was discussed in Athletic Business magazine.

A native of Tucson, Brown was a three-sport varsity athlete at Catalina Foothills High School in track and field, basketball and tennis.  She currently resides in Phoenix.

The Phoenix Regional Sports Commission is a non-profit organization created in 1988 to “Enrich Our Community Through Sports.”  The Commission currently collaborates with hundreds of partners to help fulfill this mission, bringing national and international sporting events to the state, assisting in the promotion of existing events and Arizona sports teams, and developing youth sports programs throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.  In 1999, it assumed oversight of the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2012, the Grand Canyon State Games.
