NFL Legend Ditka to Appear at Taste In Tempe

Mike Ditka, NFL Hall of Famer and former NFL coach of the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints, will make an exclusive appearance at the first ever Taste In Tempe, Sun., Feb. 9.

Presented by CBS Radio (KMLE @ 107.9, 94.5 KOOL FM and LIVE 101.5), Tempe Center for the Arts and R Entertainment Company, Taste In Tempe occurs at the beautiful Tempe Center for the Arts Amphitheater, and will capitalize on the panoramic views offered to create an unforgettable pre-Valentine’s Day culinary event.

Beyond his reputation as an NFL star and coaching legend, Ditka has earned a reputable place in the restaurant world as well. The aptly named quality dining spot opened its first location in Chicago and recently made way to metro Phoenix, inside the new Vee Quiva Hotel & Casino.  USA Today noted Ditka’s among the top 10 celebrity owned restaurants in the country.

Taste In Tempe will dish out some of the Ditka’s classics, as prepared by Ditka’s Chef Andy Moy, as guests and Da Coach himself stroll the lakefront, sampling an eclectic variety of more than 30 Arizona restaurants.

In addition to delicious crowd-pleasing favorites and celebrity guests, Taste In Tempe offers an afternoon of food, music and celebration with a romantic twist. The event delivers a “love and romance” themed shopping experience with jewelry, luxury goods, flowers, chocolates, pastries and more, perfect for a Valentine’s Day preview, not to mention an unforgettable date experience.

Taste In Tempe showcases wines from around the world accompanied by expert-led seminars, and exclusive craft breweries sampling flavorful beverages.  In addition, the Arizona Pork Council and Crooked Sky Farms are featured contributors of pork and farm fresh vegetables, respectively, for some of the cuisine served at Taste in Tempe.

CBS Radio stations KMLE Country @ 107.9, LIVE 101.5, and KOOL FM deliver LIVE music and entertainment as local celebrity chefs offer an insider’s knowledge on the chef demonstration stage.

Restaurant Industry

Arizona Restaurant Week Returns Sept. 21-29

Valley food lovers rejoice! Arizona Restaurant Week will return this fall from Saturday, September 21 through Sunday, September 29 for nine action-packed and scrumptious nights.

The Arizona Restaurant Association proudly hosts this week of extravagant edibles to showcase the state’s vibrant restaurant industry. This chef-powered event sets the stage for menus and dining trends for the fall and winter months and helps put Arizona on the map as a nationally known culinary destination.

“When you think of Arizona food, you may think of tacos, burritos, menudo; but that’s not the whole story,” said Arizona Restaurant Association President and CEO Steve Chucri. “There are so many different cuisines and foods available in Arizona beyond traditional Southwestern food.”

Diners will have the opportunity to try up to nine restaurants during Arizona Fall Restaurant Week. Many restaurants have already joined forces and signed up to take part in this exciting event and the Arizona Restaurant Association is actively seeking more restaurants to participate in the Phoenix metro area and Tucson.

“We’ve got fan favorites like Beckett’s Table, Binkley’s and Lon’s already signed up as well as newcomers like Searsucker, the Salty Sow and Taggia at Firesky Resort and Spa,” said Chucri.
Other loyal restaurants like Monti’s La Casa Vieja, The Melting Pot and Vincent on Camelback never miss a season of Arizona Restaurant Week and this fall is no exception.

During Fall Arizona Restaurant Week, more than 200 Phoenix area and Tucson restaurants will offer specialty prix-fixe dinner menus for $30 and $40 per person, excluding beverages, tax and gratuity unless otherwise noted.

“Arizona Restaurant Week is a celebration of Arizona’s finest tastemakers and one of the state’s biggest industries,” said Chucri. “The twice yearly event allows us to highlight Arizona as a top culinary destination in the country.”

Fall Arizona Restaurant Week will feature everything from superior steaks and burgers to award winning white tablecloth establishments throughout Phoenix and Tucson and is sure to satisfy every craving.

“There’s something special about Arizona food. Some of our restaurants have been family-owned for nearly a century. Others have grown from new ideas and fresh ingredients,” added Chucri. “And the cuisine is just as diverse as the restaurants that serve it. It’s all on the table here in Arizona.”

A full list of participating restaurants and menus will be featured on www.ArizonaRestaurantWeek.com with an easy-to-use interface for searching for a favorite local chef, type of cuisine or restaurant wish list.

Check back often as new restaurants and menus will be added as they become available. Until then, find out all the delectable details by following Arizona Restaurant Week (ARW) on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.

Noche de Gourmet: Dining, Entertainment And Charity

Ready for a night of looking your best, enjoying some of the Valley’s best foods and helping out those in need? If so, Noche de Gourmet’s the place to be.

Noche de Gourmet

The Active 20-30 Club of Phoenix is holding its 28th annual Noche de Gourmet event on Friday, November 4th, at 7:00 p.m. at the famous Wrigley Mansion. The event is semi-formal, with all the proceeds helping the Children in Need Foundation. Noche de Gourmet is expected to draw more than 1,000 people, based on attendees from previous years.

Todd Sommers, one of the event chairmen, says that the event is “different from other black tie events you’d see.” More than 20 restaurants from all over the Valley will be contributing to the event, offering some of the best dishes and drinks to the guests. In addition to that, there are a few other attractions to entertain everyone who attends.

The restaurants contributing to the event will be offering a wide variety of foods, including but certainly not limited to steak, sushi, seafood, Italian, Asian, southwestern and many others. The restaurants themselves are just as diverse and include noteworthy Valley eateries, such as Phoenix City Grille, Sushi Roku, The Melting Pot and the renowned Il Terrazzo.

Noche de Gourmet

One of Noche de Gourmet’s side events is a silent auction, and this year’s offerings are nothing to sneeze at; among other things, there’s almost always at least one destination trip being sold in these auctions, and this year, guests have a chance to win a plane trip to Las Vegas. Sommers says that the prizes in these silent auctions “try and support local businesses as much as possible.” So by participating, you would help out both children in need and the Valley itself.

There will also be an art exhibit held during Noche de Gourmet, and according to Sommers, the venue itself is part of that exhibit. He says that guests of previous years have “found Wrigley Mansion itself a piece of art,” and this year’s attendees will no doubt enjoy being able to sample fine foods and drinks within such a notable Valley location.

“We’re very proud to be able to carry on this tradition,” Sommers says.
