With 140 nationally known artists displaying their work surrounded by red rock splendor, there is no better place to spend an October weekend than Sedona.

First Friday is a monthly art walk from 6 to 10 p.m. Starting at the Phoenix Public Library, located south of McDowell Rd. on Central Ave., participants can pick up a First Friday brochure, which includes the member galleries, their locations and the best shuttle bus route.

Surprise Fine Art & Wine Festival

Surprise Fine Art & Wine Festival Featuring 100+ Artists, Wine Tasting

Thunderbird Artists has partnered with the City of Surprise to host the Surprise Fine Art & Wine Festival, which will take place on February 1-3, 2013 at the Surprise Recreation Campus.

The festival will feature more than 100 world-class, jury-selected artists from around the world and more than 2,000 pieces of fine art in a variety of mediums — including batiks, copper, glass, clay, stone, metal and wood sculptures, photography, jewelry and more — and subjects matters. Attendees will also have the chance to meet and speak with the artists during this three-day event.

One of the featured artists is Jim Prindiville, known for his contemporary Indian and horse paintings. And, live entertainment will be provided by Skyelark Productions’ John Jacobs, playing the hammered dulcimer, and Aaron Mesenberg, progressive flamenco classical guitarist. Top chefs will also be on-site, demonstrating how to cook an array of four-star dishes.

The Surprise Fine Art & Wine Festival will feature an extension collection of fine wines, both domestic and imported. During the fine festival portion of the event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to taste wine like the pros. For $10, patrons will receive an engraved souvenir wine glass and six wine tasting tickets.

Admission into the festival is $3 per person, and parking is free.

Waterfront Fine Art & Wine Festival 2013: Renowned Artists, Wine Tasting, Live Music

Justin Coopersmith, Waterfront Fine Art & Wine FestivalThunderbird Artists’ Waterfront Fine Art & Wine Festival, taking place February 15-17, 2013 at the Scottsdale Waterfront, will feature Justin Coopersmith, known for creating one-of-a-kind pieces using a unique combination of textures, hues and shapes.

The Waterfront Fine Art & Wine Festival will showcase a juried selection of renowned artists, such as Coopersmith; one of the largest wine tasting event in the Southwest with fine wine from participating wineries from around the world; and live music, including guitarist Scott Helmer.

Justin Coopersmith, Waterfront Fine Art & Wine FestivalCoopersmith has more than 40 years experience as a published professional designer, illustrator and mixed-media fine artist. With more than 200 paintings published in print as an artist, Coopersmith has kept busy creating custom painting commissions and projects, traveling around the country exhibiting at juried fine art shows. Coopersmith’s true passion is creating abstract expressionistic paintings as well as landscapes, still lifes and figurative motifs.

In addition to browsing paintings, bronzes, glass, stone, copper, lay sculptures, photography and jewelry at the Waterfront Fine Justin Coopersmith, Waterfront Fine Art & Wine FestivalArt & Wine Festival, attendees have the chance to take part in a wine tasting. For $10, patrons will receive an engraved souvenir wine glass and six tasting tickets, providing a unique opportunity to sample an extensive collection of domestic and imported wines ― the finest wines in the nation, as determined by Thunderbird Artists and top wine experts. Additional tasting tickets can be purchased for $1.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, the festival will take place on the pedestrian walkway of the Scottsdale Waterfront and Southbridge, next to Nordstrom’s and Olive & Ivy. Admission is $3, and parking is free.
