Scottsdale Public Art Director Valerie Vadala Homer has announced her retirement after almost 25 years on the job.

The institution brought the city freeway art, the famous Love sculpture and the $3.2 million Paolo Soleri Bridge.

Homer announced her retirement Friday.

The Arizona Republic says Dick Hayslip will serve as interim director during a search for Homer’s replacement.

He’s a former chairman of Public Art’s advisory board and a member of the Scottsdale Cultural Council board of trustees.

The Scottsdale Cultural Council is considered a private entity even though it receives about 40 percent of its budget in public money from the city.
