Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona, enterprises of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), announced the addition of Trenni Martinez as the new director of slots. Martinez, a native of Kansas, brings with him more than two decades of casino gaming experience.

“The position requires someone who is well-versed in operations management and has a handle on the new trends in the gaming industry,” said Dennis Leong, President & CEO of Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona. “Trenni Martinez embodies all the qualities we were searching for and we’re thrilled to have him on board. With his expertise and passion for gaming, Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona will enhance slot performances and continue to offer exceptional guest services.”

Martinez graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in Business and joined the management team at the Isle of Capri Casino in 1996. During his tenure there he worked his way up, taking on roles as a valet, cook, slot manager and eventually a senior director of operations. He continued to hone his hospitality skills, serving as assistant general manager at various tourism sectors including Seminole Coconut Creek Casino for more than seven years. In June 2014, he joined Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona.

“I wanted to be where all the action is happening, and in the world of gaming, there is never a dull moment,” Martinez said. “I’m excited to bring my knowledge to both properties and create new strategies for growth in the slot division. The industry is continuously transforming so casinos have to keep up with the changes in order to stay current and I look forward to being an integral part of that change.”

Even though his position requires him to assume various management tasks, Martinez said guest interaction is the most fulfilling aspect of his role. “The more relationships we can build with our customers, the better because it makes the experience more satisfying for everyone,” he said. “When the room is buzzing and players are enjoying themselves, it really does make a difference. Optimizing slot operations is of the utmost importance but we want to also ensure guests are enjoying themselves as well.”

While taking on responsibilities for two locations seems daunting for others, Martinez said he welcomes the challenge. “A lot of employees have been with the company for many years so that’s a true testament to the organization’s management and operations,” he said. “I’m excited to be apart of the team and look forward to providing new strategies to maximize profits on the casino floors.”
