Making its debut October 8 through 9, 2016 at Scottsdale’s Salt River Fields, the monthly UnCommon Markets will bring a whole new shopping and event experience to the Greater Phoenix community.

The showplace for regional goods in high demand categories – fine art; craft/handmade; vintage /repurposed goods; food and spirits; music and entertainment; and emerging art for social change — the new event offers something for everyone.

To qualify as a vendor, offerings need to be original and uncommon, not mass produced. From the most exquisite and best fine art the area has to offer to original and quirky work by young artists to items that are sustainable and support social change, this will be a festive gathering place to find uncommon goods you can feel good about buying.

Designed for discerning shoppers seeking “Fresh Finds. Far From Ordinary,” including visitors, permanent and temporary residents of Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix community, UnCommon Markets is the brainchild of exhibition and event industry veteran Joan Ulrich.

With years of proven experience overseeing successful launches and management of fine art, handmade, home, design and other trade/consumer events across the country, Ulrich sees a tremendous opportunity to build a vibrant Arizona marketplace that supports local artists and businesses.

“My love of Arizona inspired me to find a way to showcase artists of all kinds in a fun atmosphere that truly reflects the unique offerings and proud heritage of the area,” said Joan Ulrich, owner, UnCommon Markets LLC. “Our uncomplicated vendor vetting process, which ensures quality, authenticity and balance, as well as our ‘markets within markets’ format , will make UnCommon Markets unlike any other events on the annual Arizona festival calendar. ”

Providing the ideal backdrop for this non-traditional shopping and lifestyle experience, Salt River Fields is part of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, the fastest growing cultural and entertainment district in Scottsdale.

The spring training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, this one-of-a-kind venue features vast panoramic views of some of central Arizona’s most iconic mountain ranges. With a beautiful, grassy expanse and plentiful parking, it’s easily accessible by bike, from freeways, airports and public transit.

Attendees can look for “UnCommon Offers,” weekend themes and other special features at each monthly event. Among them, ticket specials, featured pavilions, “UnCommon” performances, events and special musical guests.
