Banner Health Foundation has received $9,100 from the members of 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun. The nonprofit foundation was nominated by Missy Lagomarsino and selected by the Scottsdale members of 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun during the organization’s April Giving Circle.

Banner Health Foundation secures and stewards charitable gifts to support patient care programs and services operated by Banner’s many hospitals and healthcare facilities across Arizona. The Foundation’s newest program, myCancerConnection, offers one-on-one support by connecting patients to a cancer support community of survivors and caregivers who have been there. Requests are matched by disease, mode of treatment and experience. Support is open to patients, caregivers and cancer survivors who were treated anywhere, and connections have been made around the globe.

Linda Lotz, Chief Development Officer of Oncology for Banner Health Foundation, expressed her heartfelt thanks by saying, “The generous donation from 100+ Women Who Care will aid in the embarking of myCancerConnection.  This program provides that extra level of TLC that Banner MD Anderson has become known for…providing outstanding, cutting-edge treatment for a patient’s clinical needs, while simultaneously tending to their heart and soul needs, as well. Having direct and personal access to someone who has already walked the same path is invaluable to someone who has just received news of their specific cancer diagnosis. We are so grateful for the vision 100+ Women Who Care has in gathering resources to make a difference in the community. Like the ripple effect one drop of water makes, 100+ Women Who Care’s impact will certainly ripple outward from those who will benefit from this program – many of whom will no doubt return to the program as cancer survivors to help connect and guide those that follow.”

The chapter’s donation will support the Foundation’s marketing efforts and increase awareness of this important program. “I don’t think I can adequately express the pride and joy I feel, and all the members of 100+ Women Who Care feel, in being able to do something that makes such an incredible impact in the lives of cancer patients. They deserve as much love and support as they can get when they are going through something as difficult as a cancer journey,” said Stephanie Millner, Chief Charity Officer of 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun.

100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun is a philanthropic group of women committed to making an impact in their local community. The 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun Chapter is comprised of four sister groups, Ahwatukee, Scottsdale East Valley and West Valley. At each quarterly giving circle, three charities are picked “from the hat.” The members who nominated these organizations share the mission and need of the charities with the group. After a brief question and answer session members vote and the nonprofit with the most votes is the recipient of the group’s donation. Each member writes a $100 tax-deductible check directly to the selected charity that same evening.

Over the past three years, 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun has donated over $280,000 to local charities.
