Across The Pond, the 35-seat craft cocktail bar from Born & Raised Hospitality, the Valley-based restaurateurs behind Clever Koi and the upcoming Fellow Osteria, is now open. Housed inside the old Central Wine space just across the walkway from the Clever Koi’s Phoenix location, Across The Pond (4236 N. Central Ave #101) tempts with a compact, ever-changing menu of 8 different cocktails, plus an extensive selection of Japanese whisky served in the traditional Japanese style, craft beer and wine, all paired with an innovative menu of fresh sushi hand-rolled by renowned Sushi Chef, Alvaro Salinas.

Open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 pm to midnight, the space boasts a minimalist décor best described as ‘tropical meets mid-century modern,’ and highlighted by both dark and warm woods, and colorful tropical wallpaper behind the bar. Specializing in traditional Japanese sushi, i.e. no Americanized rolls, Across The Pond will serve up an omakase (or chef’s choice) menu of nigiri and sashimi dishes handcrafted by longtime local Sushi Chef, Alvaro Salinas (previously of Shimogamo). Plus, maki (or hand rolls) such as Spicy Tuna with shiso leaf, tsuma (finely sliced daikon), furikake (powdered shrimp, bonito, black and white sesame seeds), Yellowtail with Kaiware (radish sprout), lemon jam and Szechuan powder, or Spicy Salmon Rolls with garlic herb oil, toasted garlic crumble and cucumber.

Wash it all down with Across The Pond’s handcrafted selection of eight unique craft cocktails, including a variety of imported Japanese whisky served in the traditional highball style, with the soda water artfully poured down a spoon. Perfect for a quick bite before dinner at Clever Koi, or as a standalone dinner & drink destination, Across The Pond is sure to be Phoenix’s favorite new watering hole.

Across The Pond is the latest culinary creation from Born & Raised Hospitality and co-owners, Nicholas Campisano (2017 Arizona Restaurant Association Manager of the Year) and Joshua James (winner of the 2018 Arizona Cocktail Weekend’s Last Slinger Standing bartending competition).
