Arizona Science Center Hazel A. Hare President and CEO Chevy Humphrey was recently awarded the Chair’s Award for Outstanding Achievement from the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) at the association’s national conference in San Jose, CA, the first time this award has been presented.

Humphrey has been an ASTC board member for 12 years, and in that role has assisted the organization in advancing the role that science centers and museums play nationwide in the realm of education.

“Serving on the board for over a decade has been a true honor,” said Humphrey, “I have been so fortunate to be a part of such a strong team of people who are greatly improving and expanding access to STEM learning in communities around the globe.”

ASTC is a global organization providing collective voice, professional support, and programming opportunities for science centers, museums, and related institutions, whose innovative approaches to science learning inspire people of all ages about the wonders and the meaning of science in their lives. The organization strives to increase awareness of the valuable contributions its members make to their communities and the field of informal STEM learning.

“Chevy Humphrey has been one of the most valuable board members we have had at ASTC and her commitment to filling the gaps in STEM education is both admirable and empowering to myself and our other partner organizations”, said Linda Conlon, Chair of Association of Science-Technology Centers. “Along with Chevy, we believe in the power of science centers to inspire and engage communities across the nation to understand the role sciences play in everyday life. Collectively we have made huge strides and I want to thank Chevy for her leadership.”
