The Breadfruit & Rum Bar is celebrating 10 years of success in downtown Phoenix by hosting the first ever rum-centric event in Arizona. The 10th Anniversary Rum Festival will take place Saturday May 12th, from 4:00-10:00 p.m. Guests can expect a spectacular lineup of top rum brands providing samples of their finest varieties, live reggae music, food and fun, all to support the Phoenix Center for the Arts.

“We’re shutting down Pierce Street and throwing a party for the neighborhood that has sustained us over the years”, said co-owner Dwayne Allen. “This our way of giving back and saying thank you.”

Participating brands include: Appleton Estate of Jamaica, Don Q Rum of Puerto Rico, Don Pancho of Panama, Prichard’s Rum from Tennessee and Rhum Clement from Martinique and more. Each station will have expert representatives standing by to share their knowledge and answer questions about their rum. “This will be an educational experience for our guests that is intended to raise the profile of rum,” said Allen. “If people come away with a better appreciation of rum while supporting Phoenix Center for the Arts, our job is done.”

Of course, no rum festival would be complete without refreshing rum punch or reggae. Look out for the commandeered pirate ship Rum Bar serving up the tastiest rum punch, while local reggae band Rastafarmers, featuring Lady Ninja, fills the air with the sounds of the tropics.

Tickets are $45 for regular admission and $75 for VIP (sold out). This is a 21 and older event.
