Today’s spotlight: Jessica Grant

Partner, executive vice president, and CFO

Corbins Electric

Graduating with a BS in accountancy, Grant landed her career in construction.  Advancing by running all of operations, she got experience working in commercial construction before starting at Corbins Electric in 2012. Grant enjoys this industry because it pushes you to stay accountable to learning and the career growth opportunities it provides for the team. 

Lesson learned in 2020: “When COVID hit, it put an end to our daily huddles which we hadn’t missed since they began in 2014. It provided us with a challenge and an opportunity to grow in our communication throughout the company, as well as teach an important lesson that workplace culture must extend beyond the walls of our physical buildings. We have been able to bounce back and I’m truly excited for the new ways we’ll be getting the team together for huddles going forward.”

Source of pride: “The growth and development of our team! I couldn’t be happier with the team we have assembled to take our company through this next phase. Our leadership team has expanded and the alignment of our culture, vision, and core values has never been stronger. Recruiting and retaining top talent is a huge challenge for every industry so I am very proud of where we are today.”

Surprising fact: “I was painfully shy as a child and still am. Whether it’s speaking in front of a large group, guest teaching a class, or even making a video that more than my family will see, I really have to psych myself up. With a background in finance, I’ve always defaulted to putting my head down and working solo to get a job done. Over the last ten years of working with this incredible team, they have helped make the frequent jump out of my comfort zone a little less intimidating!”
