FirstBank, one of the nation’s largest privately held banks with numerous locations in Arizona, is launching a fun new campaign, starting Feb. 4, to encourage consumers to save money by taking little steps towards big milestones. Arizona residents will start seeing the new “Saving is in Style” ads this week on billboards, digital ads and social media.

The lighthearted campaign which will run in both English and Spanish features high fashion models unexpectedly revealing their closet saving secrets. One model brags about cutting his own hair, while another touts thriftiness by reusing plastic bags and using his parents’ TV login. FirstBank hopes this uplifting, educational message will change the conversation about financial responsibility by inspiring consumers to find creative ways to save. It comes at the right time, as a recent Federal Reserve survey finds 46 percent of Americans would have trouble coming up with $400 in an emergency.

FirstBank will have billboards going up in the Phoenix Metro at the following locations:

• Loop 202 & Higley Road

• I-17 & 19th Avenue

• Loop 202 and SR143 near the airport

This fresh look at financial responsibility is especially important for consumers in Arizona, which ranked near the bottom of a recent WalletHub analysis for consumer saving (Arizona was #41).

FirstBank hopes the “Saving is in Style” campaign will get friends and families to start talking about how small changes can have a big impact over time. For example, saving $350 each month can add up to more than $20,000 in five years, enough for a down payment on a home. Some additional tips for saving include:

• Pay yourself first

• Try a “no-spend challenge” with family or friends

• Wait 72-hours before making a big purchase

• Celebrate your thrifty tips on social media
