Free ‘Fitness in the District’ classes return to Westgate

Health & fitness | 19 Sep, 2014 |

This time last year, hundreds of participants grabbed their workout mats and headed to the Westgate Entertainment District’s WaterDance Plaza for its free “Fitness in the District” event. The popular free weekly workout meetup kicks back into gear on September 23 and will continue to run every Tuesday night through the last week of October.

The one-hour classes strengthen, tone, tighten and dance along to INSANITY®,TURBO KICK®, HIP HOP HUSTLE® and “PiYoT” combo classes. Certified instructors will teach the one-hour classes on stage to bumping DJ beats, while fitness motivators work the group and assist attendees with moves and modifications as needed. Stick around after class to ask questions and receive individualized instruction.

INSANITY®, TURBO KICK®, HIP HOP HUSTLE® and “PiYoT” include plyometric drills, intervals of strength, power and resistance, kickboxing, pilates, yoga, dance and abdominal and core training moves. There is no equipment and no weights and participants will learn how to modify where needed for their fitness level as well as proper form and technique.
