The Maricopa County Home and Garden Show will return at the end of the month and according to the show’s Manager Katie Jones, it’s going to be one of the biggest shows of the year with special appearances from HGTV personalities and over 850 vendor booths.

“We always love connecting homeowners with the latest and greatest from thousands of local companies all in the convenience of one place,” Jones said. “With this show, we’re mixing it up with three well known HGTV personalities from two popular hit shows giving attendees a unique look at what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to flipping and fixing homes.”

The show, which will take place during the weekend of Friday, April 29, through Sunday, May 1, at the Arizona State Fairgrounds, will feature Tarek and Christina El Moussa of the HGTV show “Flip or Flop,” as well as Clint Harp, furniture maker and carpenter on HGTV’s “Fixer Upper.” The HGTV personality presentations will show “what you don’t see on TV” with a behind-the-scenes look at both shows, according to Jones. She recommends that attendees arrive early to get seats at these presentations as they are very popular.

On Friday and Saturday attendees will have an opportunity to meet Harp, a “dumpster diving” carpenter best known for creating unique pieces from reclaimed wood, and learn about how his family’s journey has intertwined with “Fixer Upper.” He will also highlight some of his most challenging projects and share stories about working with “Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines.

On Sunday, Tarek and Christina El Moussa, the real estate gurus of “Flip or Flop,” will share their “worst flops and best flips” so attendees can learn what really goes on during the house-flipping process.

With workshops every hour, there’s something for everyone at this event. The home show seminars will showcase “A Taste of Tuscan Cuisine,” where attendees can enjoy Sogno Toscano’s lemon aged vinaigrette and Genoa Baby Basil. Additionally, there will be free wine tasting and the opportunity to learn expert wine pairing techniques.

For those looking to learn some tips for the family pet, expert dog trainer Jon Neal will share obedience tricks at the High Energy Pet Tricks and Show on Sunday.

Another special feature of the upcoming show, according to Jones, is the opportunity for attendees to consult with a certified horticulturist and take home a free custom landscape design. Jones said this service normally costs over $400, so don’t forget to bring your backyard pictures and measurements! There will also be master gardener seminars featuring butterfly and hummingbird gardens, agaves, aloes and more. Additionally, the Greater Phoenix Pond Society will show attendees how to create a unique water garden with fish in their own backyards.

With the show’s adult admission price of $8, all of the aforementioned presentations are free. Additionally, guests can receive one free admission ticket to the show by donating three full-size hygiene products to the show’s non-profit partner, the Arizona’s Children Association.
