HomeSmart International, recognized by Real Trends 500 as a top 10 residential real estate company in the United States, has launched a new service that will make the pre-licensing process incredibly convenient for people who want to become a real estate agent. As of Sept. 1, people who want to start a career as a real estate agent can visit HomeSmart’s corporate headquarters and attend HomeSmart University – a computer-based live classroom with 9-to-5 access to instructors as well as pre-recorded lectures.

“HomeSmart is focused on creating a valuable, dynamic agent experience that can start the same day a person decides he or she wants to be an agent,” says CEO Matt Widdows. “Our pre-licensing program, like all our agent programs, emphasizes flexibility and a high level of support.”

Pre-licensing courses require 90 hours of class within one year and often need to be completed at a proctored venue at predetermined times and dates. HomeSmart estimates the university will save prospective agents unnecessary stress by allowing them to work their classes into their own schedule.

“This kind of program is going to be a game-changer for individuals who want to start a career in real estate, but need flexibility in their schedule,” says Michael Swope, senior vice president of operations at HomeSmart International. “This approach makes it easy to balance other priorities, before they start making money in real estate.”

The cost for HomeSmart University’s pre-licensing class is $495. Agents who join HomeSmart will receive $295 in credit that can be applied to the class as well as $100 in marketing materials, technically leaving the cost of the class as $100. HomeSmart’s fee structure is completely transparent, there are no hidden fees once agents are on board.

HomeSmart’s total network agent count is nearly 14,000 with 125 office locations in 16 states. Already lauded for its national growth, HomeSmart also ranks in the Entrepreneur Franchise 500, Swanepoel Power 200 and the Inc. 5000 fastest growing private companies. Over the last five years alone, the brand has achieved a net-agent increase of 156 percent and grown its franchises by 925 percent across the United States.
