The holidays are here and you’re probably already frolicking from one party to the other. While the festivities are wonderful, the next morning hangover is not. Thankfully, there are some natural hangover remedies to quicken the recovery that will let you keep up with your busy schedule.

Judy Nicassio, a certified nutritionist at Rejuvena Health & Aestheticssays if prevention has gone by the wayside, then concentrate on replenishing with antioxidants, B vitamins and lots of fluids. Plan ahead andNicassio says be sure to have some of these foods on hand for the day after so you can utilize natural hangover remedies during your recovery from excessive celebrations during the holidays.

• Protein is your friend. Good, quality proteins like turkey, chicken, beef, fish, and eggs are full of amino acids that help to detoxify the liver.  Eggs are also a great source of cysteine, which helps break down a headache-causing toxin that’s produced when your body digests alcohol. Don’t forget the nuts and beans. They’re also a great protein source.

• Eat Colors like Gatorade.  Consume plenty of leafy greens, red beets and bright yellow and orange veggies (think bell peppers).  These foods contain B vitamins which support the liver and pancreas.

• Go Coconuts! Coconut water replaces your fluids and electrolytes, which are the nutrients you lose when drinking alcohol.

• Go Bananas! Fruits like kiwi and bananas don’t just hydrate. They also contain B vitamins.

• Avoid The Coffee. Caffeine is a diuretic and can be very dehydrating. This means it pushes liquids out of the body just when you want to be replenishing as much as possible.

• Hook Up The IV: No, we’re not talking about coffee. What did we just say? IV Therapy is a quick way to get a boost of hydration and liver-supporting vitamins in less than an hour.
