Pinkies up! On December 9th, Duet will be hosting its annual Poinsettia Tea Party. With tickets priced at $70 per person ($37 of which is tax deductible), the 22nd annual Poinsettia Tea Party, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch, is expected to welcome more than 500 guests – all of whom in attendance to raise money for Duet.

Duet is a nonprofit, interfaith organization that supplies aid for older adults and their families, as they face the difficult challenges so often associated with aging.

We promote health and well-being in the greater Phoenix area through a broad range of free-of-charge services for those in need,” says Eva Scholfield, director of development for Duet.

Executive Director, Elizabeth Banta, says, “We help home-bound adults remain living in their own home by matching them with caring volunteers who provide simple, yet vital, services such a grocery shopping and rides to medical appointments.”

The Poinsettia Tea Party is one of three annual fundraising events sponsored by Duet. The Tour de Paradise bicycle ride fundraiser is scheduled for October 20th, 2012, and Jazz Cabaret will take place in the spring of 2013.

During the Poinsettia Tea Party, tea junkies and newbies alike can select from Earl Grey standards or sample specially prepared offerings, including a festive orange spice tea, delicate scones with fresh jam and cream, sandwiches and desserts carefully selected and elegantly prepared by the chef.

The Poinsettia Tea is a wonderful and exciting event that has raised Duet’s visibility in the community and endeared our mission to many attendees,” says Sandy Lebowitz, chair of the Poinsettia Tea Steering Committee.

This popular fundraising event netted more than $103,000 in support of Duet’s mission in 2011. This year, the Steering Committee has set a goal for the event to raise net proceeds of $120,000 to benefit Duet’s services.
