World-renowned heart surgeon joins Banner Health

Banner Health has announced Francisco Arabia, MD, an internationally recognized surgeon and executive leader in thoracic, cardiothoracic vascular and transplant surgery, has joined the organization.

Dr. Arabia will assume the newly created role as physician executive of Advanced Heart Failure and Mechanical Circulatory Support on July 2. His initial responsibility will be creating a systemwide Advanced Heart Failure and Circulatory Support program. He will be primarily located at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, with additional responsibilities in Tucson and throughout the Banner system.

He comes to Banner from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he served in several leadership roles focused on advanced heart disease, mechanical circulatory support, cardiothoracic surgery and comprehensive heart transplant programs.

“Dr. Arabia has well earned his international reputation as a premier leader in his medical fields, and Banner is thrilled about the knowledge and experience he’ll bring to the organization,” said Larry Goldberg, president of Banner – University Medicine. “He’ll play an important role in developing and advancing many exciting projects in Arizona.”

He will also serve as Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, with a joint appointment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.

W.E. O’Neil names Jed Heuberger as senior project manager

W.E. O’Neil announced the addition of Jed Heuberger to our team of construction professionals. Jed will serve in the role of Senior Project Manager in our Tucson office.

Jed brings 15 years of experience in the local construction market. During his professional career, he has served in the roles of Project Manager, Preconstruction Director and Senior Project Manager. Jed’s background includes of all types of construction, with experience in the Hospitality, Healthcare and Education markets. He is an active participant in the building industry with his involvement in the ABA Young Builders Council, and serving as a course instructor for the AGC PMDP.

Brown elected chair of J. Reuben Clark Law Society

Scott K. Brown, II, an attorney at Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP, has been selected Chair of the Greater Phoenix Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society.

Brown will serve a two-year term in this role overseeing the organization’s continued mission to ensure public service and professional excellence in the field of law through members’ personal religious convictions. Brown has been a member of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society for 18 years and also serves on the Society’s religious freedom committee.

“It is an honor to serve as a leader in the community in which I work and live,” said Scott K. Brown. “I plan to emphasize community service to members of the organization and look forward to furthering the efforts of such a highly respected organization in the Valley.”

Brown represents commercial, agricultural and private lenders, healthcare companies and other businesses in a broad array of transactions and litigation. His experience includes both in-house and outside counsel roles in loan origination and documentation, regulatory compliance, litigation in state and federal court, receiverships and bankruptcies. He also represents clients regarding regulatory, lending and litigation issues related to consumer finance. He is admitted in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Montana.

Aaron Gordon joins Earthworks Environmental

Earthworks Environmental, LLC has expanded its Arizona operation with the hiring of Aaron Gordon as a compliance manager.

Prior to joining Earthworks Environmental, Gordon worked for 10 years in the primary fields of environmental due diligence and contaminated site management for both regional and multi-national environmental consulting firms.

Most recently he was the transaction services lead for the Cleveland, Ohio, office of Environmental Resources Management (ERM), a global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, social consulting services, and sustainability related services.
