Delta Dental of Arizona welcomes finance director

Delta Dental of Arizona announced that Joshua Cupero has joined the leading dental benefits provider as the director of finance. Cupero will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of the company in collaboration with the chief financial officer.  

“Josh brings over 10 years of professional experience to our team, six of those years in the health insurance sector,” said Mark Anderson, chief financial officer for Delta Dental of Arizona. “As Delta Dental of Arizona continues to grow, Joshua’s experience will ultimately help us in our mission to improve lives by promoting optimal oral health. We couldn’t be happier with his addition to our team.” 

Prior to joining Delta Dental of Arizona, Cupero served in multiple capacities at Health Choice Insurance Co, Health Choice Florida and Health Choice Utah. He was tasked with overseeing financial reporting, health plan budgets and forecasts and annual audits. His experience also includes public accounting for cities, towns, school districts and nonprofits.

Arizona Care Network adds seasoned leaders

Arizona Care Network, one of the nation’s leading accountable care organizations, with more than 5,500 physicians and 280,000 patient members, has added experts in informatics and finance to its growing leadership team. 

Dr. Mark Schippits has assumed the new role of chief medical informatics officer (CMIO) and Dan LeClair has joined the organization as director of finance. 

Using his expertise in IT, analytics, clinical performance, and healthcare systems and providers, Schippits will devise technology solutions to improve care transitions and coordination for the network. He also will identify opportunities for clinical improvements by interpreting complex data associated with value-based medicine.

Schippits’ career in empowering clinicians, improving healthcare delivery and extending the clinical value of electronic health records spans more than 25 years. Before joining ACN, he served as CMIO at Heartland Health in St. Joseph, Mo. Among his previous accomplishments was configuring Pfizer’s first clinical trials and clinical genetics data warehouse, along with its first electronic new drug submission to the FDA. He also provided the first real-time clinical data access to the desktop for Pfizer’s clinicians. His previous experience also includes roles as director of Clinical Informatics at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., and a similar position for University Hospitals, a 14-hospital system in Cleveland, Ohio.  

 LeClair, a certified public accountant, comes to ACN with experience in public and private accounting for clients in a variety of industries – including SEC-regulated entities, insurance and healthcare operations.

Lisa L. Sullivan joins TrustBank

TrustBank Arizona has announced that Lisa L. Sullivan has joined the firm as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer.  Ms. Sullivan, who has more than 20 years of experience in the finance industry, focuses on Trust and Estate Administration.

She is a leading expert in trusts, estates, investments, and IRA’s, with credentials that include Certified Trust and Financial Advisor – CTFA®, Certified Securities Operations Professional – CSOP®, Certified Wealth Strategist – CWS®, and Accredited Estate Planner – AEP®.

Prior to joining TrustBank, Ms. Sullivan held the position of Vice President and Fiduciary Officer at Arizona Bank and Trust. While her clientele are statewide, she has a significant presence as an advisor, trust, and estate administrator for customers in Sun City and Sun City West.

Hispanic National Bar Association honors Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie attorney

Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP attorney, Cindy Villanueva, has been selected as the recipient of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s 2018 Deputy Regional President of the Year Award.

“Cindy, is an up-and-coming lawyer and a leader in the community in which she works and lives, said Tom Daly, co-practice group leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. “This prestigious recognition is a testament to Cindy’s dedication to the legal community and we congratulate her on being recognized.”

Villanueva is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group and focuses on trademarks, copyrights, and rights of publicity. She assists clients with trademark selection, clearance, registration and prosecution in the United States and abroad. She has also prosecuted and defended clients in intellectual property litigation before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and federal courts. She also negotiates and drafts license agreements and other contracts involving copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, and other intellectual property.

Villanueva serves as a member of the board of directors for Los Abogados, Arizona’s Hispanic Bar Association and is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project. She also served on Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie’s Diversity and Inclusiveness committee from 2014-2018.
