Amy Schwabenlender named executive director of HSC

The Human Services Campus (HSC) announced the appointment of Amy Schwabenlender, who spent the past 13 years as Vice President of Community Impact for the Valley of the Sun United Way, as Executive Director. 

Amy replaces Dr. Sheila Harris, who completed a successful 18-month interim role for the HSC. 

“We are exceptionally pleased that Amy has taken on this leadership role,” said Mike McQuaid, HSC Chairman of the Board. “During her tenure at the Valley of the Sun United Way Amy worked to end hunger and homelessness and to increase the financial stability of individuals and families in Maricopa County.” 

A 2016 Piper Fellow and a graduate of Valley Leadership, Schwabenlender, who lives in North Phoenix, holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Communication from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and an MBA from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. 

She believes that her passion personifies her new role: “My leadership style focuses on goals and measurable outcomes…and possibly most importantly, I bring a heart and compassion for the populations who access the Campus.”

Vantage Mobility announces new president and CEO

Vantage Mobility International (VMI), a leading manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vehicles, is proud to announce Mark Shaughnessy as the new President and CEO.   Shaughnessy transitions into the role previously held by Tim Barone, who spent the last 21-years of his career serving as VMI’s Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President of Sales. Barone will continue his servant leadership to VMI as Chairman of the Board.

Donna Schafer named director of individual giving

Donna Schafer brings 17 years nonprofit experience, including as Director of Major Gifts for Xavier College Preparatory, to the new position of Director of Individual Giving at Save the Family, which has been providing housing and supportive services to help families overcome homelessness and achieve self-sufficiency for 30 years.

Schafer, who lives in North Phoenix, spent seven years as Director of Major Gifts at Xavier College Preparatory after serving as Director of the Mother’s Guild from 2006-2009 and four years as a parent volunteer. Previously, she practiced nursing for 19 years at medical practices and hospitals in Saint Louis, Mo., Paradise Valley and Scottsdale.

“Donna’s experience and expertise will drive our effort to enhance and expand our fund-raising strategy on individual giving that will enable us to reach even more families and individuals working to overcome homelessness,” said Save the Family CEO Jacki Taylor.

Schafer graduated as a registered nurse from the Deaconness School of Nursing in Saint Louis and earned a certificate in fund raising management from the Indiana University – Purdue Center of Philanthropy.

W.E. O’Neil names scheduling coordinator

W.E. O’Neil announced the addition of Mike Milewski to our team of construction professionals. Mike will serve in the role of Scheduling Coordinator in the company’s Phoenix office.

Mike brings 30 years of experience in the local construction market. During his professional career, he has served in the roles of Scheduling Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Scheduling Manager and Director of Scheduling. He is a demonstrated successful and results-driven professional specializing in keeping projects on time and on budget.
