Sonora Quest Laboratories , Arizona’s leading provider of diagnostic information services, is pleased to welcome Sonny Varadan as Chief Information Officer. An established executive with decades of experience leading companies through the monumental opportunity shift technology has created, Varadan and Sonora Quest will take the vision of key data analytic-based initiatives and make them a reality.

As the CIO, Varadan will meld operations and innovation, while keeping the focus on enhancing the patient experience, making it easier and more convenient for customers to navigate through their journey with Sonora Quest – from scheduling appointments to get their blood drawn, to securely obtaining and understanding their test results on SonoraQuest.com. His focus will be to implement data analytics and machine learning processes to enable decision support systems and automation to assist healthcare providers with population health management for improved patient outcomes.

Jaburg Wilk partner selected to TIPS Leadership Academy

Micalann Pepe, a new partner at Jaburg Wilk, was recently selected from a nation-wide pool of nominees as one of only 25 members in the 2018-19 Leadership Academy of the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (“TIPS”).  The attorneys selected were identified as emerging leaders and are actively committed to professional and community values.

The TIPS Leadership Academy provides members with skills to develop a vision to lead the legal profession and to improve leadership service in the community.  The Leadership Academy’s goals are to increase leadership diversity; create effective leadership with ethical, professional and community service values; build relationships with leaders across the country; and raise awareness to the broad range of issues facing the legal profession.

Jaburg Wilk partner Bookspan named to board

Neal Bookspan was named to the Board of Directors of Phoenix Conservatory of Music.

Bookspan, a business law attorney and partner at Jaburg Wilk, said “I love music and have my entire life. PCM fills a vital need in our community providing quality musical education to the great music artists of tomorrow, as well as mentoring the students in areas including leadership and similar life skills.”

Phoenix Conservatory of Music has been serving the community since 1999.  As state funding for school arts programs have continued to decline, PCM has provided a workable solution by providing music education for school age children.  Selected as a Berklee College of Music to be a Berklee partner in Arizona provides students with the opportunity to engage with music students and teachers from one of the most prestigious music colleges in the country. 

Marty Weems joins AGS executive team

Advanced Genomic Solutions (AGS), an international leader in genomic testing, announced the hiring of Marty Weems as Vice President of Strategic Business to lead global business development and client facing operations with a particular focus on the U.S. market.

He most recently spent 11-years as VP of Sales and VP of Strategic Business with EXOS, a superior health and wellness company featuring a platform for sports performance, corporate fitness and wellness, and traditional health care. Weems helped grow EXOS from 30-employees to nearly 5,000 at the time of his departure. During his tenure, Weems drove revenue growth to record levels while optimizing operations in undeveloped US and international markets. Weems developed and implemented innovative sales strategies and managed complex negotiations with both foreign and domestic clients and partners t­hat secured seven-figure deals. He also has extensive global experience in telecom, wholesale distribution, and pharmaceutical industries.
