Open Hearts Family Wellness earns accreditation for best practices

Open Hearts Family Wellness has achieved national accreditation from The Council on Accreditation (COA). The COA is an international, independent, nonprofit, human service accrediting organization.  Founded in 1977 by the Child Welfare League of America and Family Service America. COA accreditation is an objective, independent, and reliable validation of an agency’s performance.

The COA accreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of an organization’s administration, management, and service delivery functions against international standards of best practice. The standards driving accreditation ensure that services are well coordinated, culturally competent, evidence-based, outcomes-oriented, and provided by a skilled and supported workforce.

Open Hearts Family Wellness, formerly known as Youth Evaluation and Treatment Centers (YETC), first opened its doors 44 years ago in 1974 to develop a new model of community-based services and remains dedicated and true to its mission to provide holistic, quality services to support the well-being of people and the communities to which they belong.

“Our Board of Directors are very excited to announce the accreditation from The Council on Accreditation,” said Chandler Yelton, Open Hearts Family Wellness’ Board Chair. “The COA accreditation is a testament of the hard work and dedication the entire staff put in to receive this distinguished accreditation. This signifies excellence in practice, operations and programs for the care delivered to the individuals and families Open Hearts serves everyday,” concluded Yelton.

COA accreditation demonstrates accountability in the management of resources, sets standardized best practice thresholds for service and administration, and increases organizational capacity and accountability by creating a framework for ongoing quality improvement. Open Hearts Family Wellness is currently one of only 22 other organizations in Arizona that has been granted the COA accreditation for best practices.
