To promote arts and culture in downtown Phoenix, Roosevelt Row Community Development Corporation (CDC) is hosting a unique community celebration event on April 7th as part of Arizona Gives Day, the single-largest day of online giving in the state of Arizona. Roosevelt Row CDC proudly exists because of its residents and supporters who invest energy and resources in the artists’ district.
“This event is a great opportunity to bring the community together,” says Vermon Pierre, Board President for Roosevelt Row CDC. “We exist because of the great support from the community. This is a way for people to share their story of the district, while offering an opportunity to give back. As this downtown area continues to change, it’s important to focus on what makes our community special – local artists, businesses, history and culture.”
The Roosevelt Row Fundraising Celebration will be held on Tuesday, April 7th, from 9AM – 9PM, uniting local businesses, artists and residents from around the area, where attendees can enjoy samples from local businesses like Melt. Icecream, Pizza People Pub, Paz Cantina, artist demonstrations, live music, and an opportunity to meet members of the Roosevelt Row CDC board.
The organization aims to fundraise $20,000 on April 7 to continue fostering a vibrant, dense, diverse and walkable downtown by supporting small businesses, advocating for local artist retention and affordable artist live/work housing and growing community programs. With the support of numerous community partners and grant funding, shipping containers have been converted into pop-up gallery spaces, First and Third Fridays have grown into a regular tradition attracting a growing number of visitors every month, and annual events like the Chile Pepper Festival and Pie Social return each year.
