Want to escape Arizona’s heat? Greystone Hotels announced the completion of its first round of renovations for The Bristol Hotel, a 114room property in the heart of historic downtown San Diego that celebrates the lifestyle and mood of the iconic 1960’s era.
With the goal of maintaining its unique retro foundation while reinventing it as a modern retreat in the heart of the city, Greystone Hotels is investing over $7 million dollars in the multi-stage project which includes fully refurbished guest rooms in half of the hotel as Phase One, and a brand new fitness center with state of the art equipment. Refurbished guest rooms will also include guest bathrooms remodeled to a, “high end residential standard.” Phases Two and Three, expected to be completed by the end of 2017, will see the completion of all new guest suites and the remainder of the guest rooms and guest bathrooms refurbished along with the fitness center, revamped lobby, bar and meeting spaces. Boasting modern amenities, casual residential touches, and a mid-century chic attitude, The Bristol Hotel is an ideal urban destination for business, convention and vacation travelers who want to relax, but stay connected to the buzz of city life.

“We’re thrilled about these exciting enhancements that will raise the profile of our hotel with its excellent location, easily accessible to the San Diego Convention Center, the culinary adventures found in Little Italy, and the lively Gaslamp Quarter,” said Eric Horodas, President & CEO of Greystone Hotels. “This building’s downtown location has a rich heritage that we will preserve and build upon to express the style, art, music and attitude for which 1960’s Southern California was known.”

Boston-based design firm Perkins + Will led the renovation project for The Bristol, wistfully drawing inspiration from the sights, sounds, and feelings of the 1960’s. The guest room and suite remodel incorporates elements of pop art by Lichtenstein and Warhol, décor honoring The Beach Boys and The Beatles and an overarching connection to the groovy surfer lifestyle of the era. Guests will be taken on a journey through time while still enjoying modern day comforts and amenities such as large flat screen TVs with media hubs (which allow guests to stream content from their personal devices), and complimentary high speed internet access. Room features include mid-century furnishings, accent pillows printed with a design of The Beatles 1965 Balboa Park concert ticket stub, and an overall neutral gray/black color palette with bright pops of color.  Selected rooms and suites will have 1960’s era vintage record players along with vinyl records from that era.

Rates at The Bristol Hotel start at $209/night during peak summer months.  Please visit www.thebristolsandiego.comfor more information and reservations or call 619.232.6141
