The Arizona Science Center keeps our brains working and our bodies moving with one-of-a-kind, interactive exhibits and events designed to educate and inspire children of every age (that’s YOU, adults!) While things slow down outside of the Center every Summer, this place is just getting started. Get out your calendars, to-do lists and brain caps because below we have a comprehensive list of what’s coming up.

Sesame Street Presents: The Body, June 30 – Sept. 2

Get to know what’s under your skin at Sesame Street Presents: The Body, an amazing educational attraction featuring Elmo, Oscar, Grover and the rest of your Sesame Street friends. This interactive exhibition teaches children how their bodies work and how to keep them healthy as they hop, jump, run and dance their way through this hands-on Sesame Street adventure.

This exhibition was created and produced by Sesame Workshop and Thinkwell Group, Inc., is sponsored locally by JP Morgan Chase and Orkin Pest Control, and is located in the Sybil B. Harrington Galleries. Price including general admission:  Adults: $21.95; Seniors (62+): $19.95; Children (3 to 17): $18; Arizona Science Center Members: $5.

Blue Star Museum Program at Arizona Science Center, Memorial Day through Labor Day

Arizona Science Center proudly participates in the Blue Star Museum Program offering free admission to military families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Body Depot Workshops, every Saturday and Sunday. FREE with general admission.

Nano Latch and Catch: Identify key features that distinguish between cell types and then create specialized nanoparticles that seek and destroy disease.
Monster Manual: Participants get a chance to decode the patterns in life’s instruction manual as they  create colorful monsters.
Venom!: Learn the critical nature of protein folding as they build molecular models based on the Deathstalker scorpion’s toxin!
Busy Bones: In this hands-on dissection workshop, participants will gain an appreciation and understanding of the complexity of bones and the human body!

Adults’ Night Out, 5:30 – 9 p.m., Friday, July 5

Arizona Science Center brings you Adults’ Night Out! The First Friday of each month, the Center features a local DJ, rolls out the cash bar and offers FREE general admission to all four floors of hands-on science, to anyone 18+, including admission to an award-winning lecture series in the IMAX® Theater (seating is limited and granted on a first-come, first-serve basis).

IMAX Theatre Presentations:

Enjoy state-of-the-art sound, seating and picture at Arizona Science Center’s 280-seat IMAX Theater. Two films run daily on our 5-story giant screen where you will be whisked away to the far reaches of the world in either standard or 3D format.

To The Arctic 3D – Ends July 8, 2013
To The Arctic 3D takes you on a never before seen journey into the lives of a mother polar bear and her two seven-month old cubs as they navigate the changing Arctic wilderness they call home. Captivating, adventurous, and intimate footage brings you up close and personal with this family’s struggle to survive and thrive in a frigid environment of melting ice, immense glaciers, spectacular waterfalls and majestic snow-bound peaks.
Time: Film is screened daily at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Tornado Alley 3D
Tornado Alley is an explosive adventure that will take you on an epic chase through the “severe weather capital of the world.” Narrated by Bill Paxton, the film follows Storm Chasers star Sean Casey and the scientists of VORTEX2, the largest tornado-research project ever assembled, on separate missions to encounter one of Earth’s most awe-inspiring events—the birth of a tornado. Whirling above the human drama are the storms themselves, magnificent forces of nature revealed in breathtaking detail through the magic of the giant screen.
Time:    Film is screened daily at 10 a.m. (for school groups only), 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Non-members: Adults/Seniors (62+): $8; Children (3-17): $7

Dorrance Planetarium Presentations:

Arizona Science Center is the first science center in the world to showcase a state-of-the-art NanoSeam dome. With this cutting-edge technology, you will be fully immersed in the imagery of the galaxy and transported on animated journeys through cells, Earth, space and time, even the astronomical marvels of Arizona’s night skies. Shows play throughout the day.

Price: Members: Adults/Seniors (62+): $6, Children (3-17): $5
Non-members: Adults/Seniors (62+): $8, Children (3-17): $7
