BIG YAM, The Parsons Agency, is hosting Arizona’s inaugural Regulation A finance conference on February 21, 2018, at the agency’s Scottsdale headquarters. Smart Funding: Raise Capital and Keep Control with Reg A, An Arizona Regulation A+ Summit is the first of its kind for the state and will feature educational workshops and presentations by leaders from a variety of industries. Innovative financial tech champion, Congressman David Schweikert, has signed on as the keynote speaker.

Launched in 2015 as a result of Title IV of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act of 2012, Regulation A created a new approach for pre-IPO organizations to generate equity. Over the previous three years, Arizona has accounted for just under five percent of Regulation A offerings. The Smart Funding summit aims to promote the significance and growth of these capital raises for the benefit of Arizona companies and its investment community.

“The market for Regulation A funding is young, but I believe it is poised to grow significantly in the coming years,” said American entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of BIG YAM, Bob Parsons. “We are hosting the Smart Funding Summit to help educate Arizona businesses about this new source of capital and to help kick-start a Regulation A funding movement in the state.”

Regulation A capital raises are often referred to as “Mini IPOs,” allowing private companies to offer and sell up to $50 million in securities in a 12-month period, subject to eligibility, disclosure and reporting requirements. This capital can be gathered from unaccredited investors independently or in parallel with an accredited raise (Regulation D Rule 506(c)), and listed to an exchange.

Attendees of the single-day Smart Funding Summit will have the opportunity to hear from several highly regarded organizations that have had first-hand experience with the Regulation A process. C-suite members, business owners and investors will walk away with the knowledge to leverage this innovative financial tool.

“One of the things that we did in the JOBS ACT was create opportunities for Regulation A funding,” said Rep. David Schweikert. “This was extremely important because it allowed entrepreneurs to grow and expand their business with dramatically less regulatory burden. Expanding Arizona’s economy has been my top priority in Congress.”
