As part of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council’s efforts to attract international companies to Greater Phoenix, five companies from Mexico have been invited to attend this year’s PHX Startup Week events and experience firsthand the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem in the market.
In its fourth year, Techstars Startup Week PHX, powered by Chase for Business ®, is taking place February 19 through 23 in downtown Phoenix at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center. This year’s theme is “Let’s Make our Mark,” to inspire local entrepreneurs to make their mark in the growing Greater Phoenix entrepreneurial community.
“Techstars Startup Week Phoenix is thrilled to welcome the selected startups to experience our startup ecosystem in Arizona and join our programming,” said Stephen “V” Viramontes, Chief, Techstars Startup Week PHX. “We recognize that Mexico’s economy is critical to Arizona’s economic growth, and we want to ensure that Phoenix is the gateway for Mexican startups looking to enter the U.S. market. We’re excited to partner with GPEC and Tec de Monterrey in this strategic effort and look forward to seeing this collaboration grow and expand.”
Last fall, GPEC participated in the INCMty conference in Monterrey, Mexico, along with a number of regional and state leaders, including representatives from ASU and Chicanos por la Causa, and Arizona State Senator Bob Worsley.
As a follow up, GPEC reached out to a number of companies, who were selected based on the industry vertical, and amount of revenue and capital raised to gauge their interest in visiting metro Phoenix during the fourth annual PHX Startup Week. Overall 40 companies applied to participate, and ultimately five were chosen to attend.
“What we found during our visit to Monterrey was a cluster of startup and emerging companies interested in expanding their global footprint,” said Chris Camacho, president & CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. “To be able to showcase the strength of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in metro Phoenix – especially during PHX Startup Week – and the community of resources available to startups, is an incredible thing.”
The companies who will be in the market this week include Eassymo, Kuona Analytics, Nube, LLC, PITZ Inc, and Yaydoo.
