In honor of National Philanthropy Day on November 15, the Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) is conducting celebrations and site visits in communities across the state to raise awareness of philanthropy and recognize the efforts of those who support their communities.

AZ BIG PODCAST: Anna María Chávez talks impact of Arizona Community Foundation

National Philanthropy Day marks the beginning of the very important year-end giving season for nonprofits.  With over 28,000 nonprofits in the state of Arizona, ACF serves as a vital resource, helping donors navigate the complexities of giving, ensuring their contributions make a real impact, and verifying the credibility of various charities.

$60 Million Awarded

In the last year, ACF has awarded $60 million in grants and scholarships across the state. These funds, awarded between April 1 and September 30, 2024, support causes in five strategic priority areas: Health Innovations, Community Improvement & Development, Environment & Sustainability, Arts & Culture, and Quality Education.

ACF’s President and CEO, Anna María Chávez, will be in Flagstaff on National Philanthropy Day, where she will engage with local donors and community leaders at one of ACF’s five regional offices. She will be visiting four nonprofits that are making strides in addressing critical issues in areas of education, housing, and the environment.

“We are proud to be a catalyst for positive change in Arizona, and National Philanthropy Day is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the meaningful work we’ve done together with our community partners and donors,” said Anna Maria Chávez, President and CEO of the Arizona Community Foundation. “From Yuma, to Patagonia, to Flagstaff and Page, ACF is awarding millions of dollars statewide and continually working to build a more resilient, equitable future for Arizona.”

The ACF office serving Sedona and the Verde Valley will be hosting its 2024 Grant Awards Celebration on November 15, from 4 to 6 pm at the Sedona Performing Arts Center, where they will be awarding $230,000 to 60 area nonprofits.

ACF of Yuma will be hosting an open house from 9 AM to 12 PM at 350 W 16th Street, Suite 304, where the newly named Russ and Janet Jones Conference Room will be unveiled in honor of the Jones family’s remarkable dedication to philanthropy. The Jones family’s longstanding support and generosity as donors and philanthropists reflect their deep commitment to creating lasting change in our community, and this recognition serves as a tribute to their enduring impact.

ACF of Yavapai County will be honoring those individuals who have partnered with ACF to continue their giving after they pass at a private Legacy Society Event in Prescott.  ACF of SE Arizona will be participating in the Association of Fundraising Professionals National Philanthropy Day Luncheon in Tucson and the central office of ACF will be hosting a special workshop entitled “Charitable Strategies in Times of Change” covering successful strategies and useful tools that maximize tax savings and increase community impact.

With deep roots in communities across the state, donors who work with ACF can confidently navigate their philanthropic options and ensure their contributions make a difference in the community.
