Governor Rose Mofford. Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Nellie T. Bush. Sharlot Hall.* These are just four of the more than 100 women who have shaped the history of Arizona and who are honored and remembered through their induction to the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame.

The Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for its 2018 inductees.

The Hall of Fame program pays tribute to the remarkable women whose contributions to the arts, athletics, business, education, government, humanities, philanthropy and science provided a significant contribution to the historical record of the state of Arizona.

There are two categories for nomination: Legacy and Living Legacy. Legacy nominees are women who have reached the highest levels of accomplishment and have been deceased for at least two years. Living Legacy nominees are women who are still with us and who have achieved the highest levels of professional accomplishments. The categories for Living Legacy recognition change each year. For 2018, nominees must be women whose professional achievements are in the fields of media and sports.

Nomination forms for both categories are available now on the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame website, azwhf.org. Nominations are due Monday, December 18, 2017 and can be transmitted by postal mail (P.O. Box 44004, Phoenix, 85064) or by email (info@azwhf.org). Although the nomination forms are not complicated, they can require some research so please allow ample time to ensure nominations are submitted prior to the deadline.

Inductees for 2018 will be honored at the annual Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame Induction May 3, 2018 at the Arizona Heritage Center in Tempe.

Since the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame was established in 1980, 104 women have been inducted. Sponsors of the Women’s Hall of Fame include Arizona Humanities, the Sharlot Hall Museum, the Arizona Historical Society and the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records.
