Hughes Federal Credit Union announced today they reached their 100,000th member-owner, after seeing their membership rate double in size since 2009 due to their progressive member-only rates, according to John R. Sansbury, chairman of the board.

To celebrate this important milestone, the 100,000th member-owner, Maria Reyes, was presented a $1,000 check on July 29, 2016, when she opened a new account at Hughes’ Wetmore branch.

“The loyalty and support of our members helped us reach this important milestone and achieve strong growth despite a challenging economic period,” Sansbury said. “We want to thank our members and the community for their loyalty and support, which enhances our ability to provide the best possible savings and loan rates to our members while helping to boost the local economy.”

Established in 1952, Hughes is a locally owned and operated financial cooperative owned by its 100,000 member-owners. Sansbury credits Hughes’ growth to “certified” high rates on savings and products like the Hughes One Low Rate available on most loans.

“We’ll continue to grow and always stay committed to the high quality products and exceptional service that has made a positive difference in the financial lives of our members while helping our community,” Sansbury said. “Likewise, we will continue our community outreach efforts so that we can impact more people across Southern Arizona.”

In honor of reaching this important milestone, Hughes will be giving away 100 prizes from August 8-19, 2016, Mondays-Fridays, through their Facebook page: Facebook.com/HughesFCU.
