Banner Medicare Advantage, the only nonprofit and locally based Medicare plan in Arizona, announced a new contract with Northwest Healthcare and its affiliated physicians to expand access to health care for plan members 65 or older in Pima County.

To expand in-network and preferred provider options for plan enrollees in northwest Tucson, Oro Valley, Sahuarita and Green Valley, Banner Medical Advantage plan members can now access health care services from Northwest Healthcare and its affiliated physicians under the Banner Medicare Advantage plan.

The Banner Medicare Advantage plan offers its members access to more than 5,000 in-network and preferred provider physicians affiliated with Banner – University Medicine in Tucson.

Banner – University Medicine is a premier academic medical network comprised of Banner – University Medical Center Tucson and Banner – University Medical Center South. These institutions are academic medical centers for the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. In addition, Banner – University Medicine includes specialty clinics and urgent care centers located throughout Southern Arizona.

Northwest Healthcare is an integrated healthcare network committed to delivering Tucson and surrounding communities with high quality, accessible healthcare from highly specialized cardiac care and surgical services to more routine primary care.

Northwest Healthcare provides health care services at Northwest Medical Center, Oro Valley Hospital, Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita, affiliated free-standing emergency centers, and urgent cares throughout Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita and Vail. Northwest Medical Center Houghton will open in 2021. In addition, Northwest Primary and Specialty Care has more than 80 outpatient providers, representing 15 specialties.

Providing more coverage than Original Medicare, the Banner Medicare Advantage plan offers two comprehensive insurance plans, the Banner Medicare Advantage Prime HMO plan the Banner Medicare Advantage PPO plan. Each plan includes comprehensive benefits and prescription drug coverage.
