Thuringer appointed head of Trammell Crow’s Phoenix office
Trammell Crow Company (TCC) announces that Cathy Thuringer has been promoted to Business Unit Leader for the firm’s Phoenix Business Unit, effective March 31, 2019. Previously serving as Principal, Thuringer will assume responsibility for all development and acquisition projects, sourcing new pursuits, finance and overall day-to-day operations of the office. She will also set the strategic direction of the business and oversee the financial, risk management, and human resource functions. She assumes the role from Jim Mahoney, who will continue to serve as a Principal, responsible for exploring new product lines and continuing to pursue development and investment opportunities throughout the Phoenix area.

A 31-year industry veteran, Thuringer began her career in commercial real estate in 1988 with Trammell Crow Company in Phoenix.
SynCardia promotes of Don Webber to CEO
SynCardia Systems, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s only clinically-proven and commercially approved total artificial heart, announced that Don Webber has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Webber joined SynCardia in 2018 as Chief Operating Officer (COO), leading Manufacturing Operations and Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain Logistics for the SynCardia product line, which includes the 70cc temporary Total Artificial Heart (TAH); the smaller 50cc TAH* designed to fit more women and adolescents; the Companion 2 Hospital Driver; and the Freedom® Portable Driver, which allows stable TAH patients to be discharged from the hospital.
Colliers adds environmental due diligence services
Colliers International in Greater Phoenix is expanding its client services to include Environmental and Building Due Diligence Services. The new offerings will be available to property management, landlord and investor clients of the company as part of Colliers’ full-service approach to commercial real estate.
“Environmental assessments are an integral part of commercial real estate transactions, especially in the case of investment sales and debt and equity placements,” says Bob Mulhern, senior managing director of Colliers International in Greater Phoenix. “Our investor and landlord clients, as well as property management customers, are committed to insuring that properties are free from hazards and provide healthy environments. These new services will be offered nationwide to Colliers clients through the company’s commercial real estate professionals. Lee Morris, a registered geologist and expert in environmental consulting, will be the first professional within the group and others will be added as the practice expands.
UA’s Dr. Cecilia Rosales named interim associate dean
Cecilia Rosales, MD, MS, associate dean of Phoenix Programs and professor of public health at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, has been appointed interim associate dean of community engagement and outreach programs.
Dr. Rosales replaces Jill de Zapien, who served as associate dean of community programs for 16 years before retiring in 2018. Ms. de Zapien has been involved in community-based public health interventions, policies and research in Arizona and throughout the Southwest and Mexico for more than 30 years.
In her new role, Dr. Rosales will provide mentoring and support for UA Zuckerman College of Public Health faculty members, staff, students and prospective students to develop and engage in community-based programs, service-learning activities and research. In addition, she will communicate the importance of community-public health partnerships to a diverse set of partners, including community members, academic affiliates, government agencies and both public and private organizations with a focus on health equity and social justice.
MJ Insurance continues to grow
MJ Insurance, a leading insurance agency for more than 50 years, continues to expand its Phoenix team with the addition of Kayla Berg as graphic design specialist for the Benefits Consulting department.
Berg previously worked as a graphic designer at Design Streak of Illinois State University.
Her diverse expertise in graphic design will assist her in designing employer health and wellness brands, communications materials, and other creative solutions to increase employee enrollment, activation and utilization of healthcare benefits for MJ’s Benefits Consulting clientele.
