For years, enterprise network teams have operated under a quiet assumption that relying on one telecom provider to run their WAN is simply how things are done. Coevolve is pushing back on that assumption. The Sydney-based network solutions company has introduced a telco-independent SD-WAN service that removes the dependency on a single carrier and gives enterprises direct control over how their wide area network is sourced, built, and managed.

The service comes at a time when many organizations are finding that the network contracts they signed three or four years ago were not designed for how they operate today. Cloud adoption has changed traffic patterns. Distributed workforces have changed, where connectivity is needed. And the fixed, carrier-dependent WAN architecture that once made sense is now creating friction in places it did not before.

Coevolve’s approach separates the SD-WAN overlay from the underlying transport entirely. Instead of inheriting whatever connectivity a single telco offers at each location, enterprises can work with the best available ISP at every individual site. A branch in one country might use a regional broadband provider. Another location might combine a dedicated fiber link with a mobile backup. The SD-WAN layer sits above all of it, managing traffic across every connection and giving the network team one place to monitor and control the whole thing.

“What we hear from enterprises is that they are not unhappy with SD-WAN as a technology. They are unhappy with the model that gets sold alongside it,” said a spokesperson for Coevolve. “Bundling the overlay with a single carrier’s connectivity sounds simple, but it means the enterprise gives up leverage at every point of the relationship. Pricing, performance, coverage, support, all of it flows through one provider. That is a structural problem, and a telco-independent model is how you fix it.”

Coevolve’s enterprise SD-WAN solutions use VMware SD-WAN technology for the overlay and bring in Zscaler for cloud-based security. Internet traffic is secured through Zscaler Internet Access, with service chaining that ties the security layer directly into the SD-WAN policies. Remote and mobile users connect through Zscaler Private Access, with Zero Trust frameworks applied regardless of where those users are working from. Virtual SD-WAN appliances can also be deployed in Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, extending the same network policies into cloud environments.

ISP sourcing is managed independently across all locations, with no commercial relationship between Coevolve and any specific telco influencing the recommendations made to clients. The company researches available options at each site, handles contract negotiations, coordinates implementation, and takes ongoing operational responsibility for managing all ISP relationships. Enterprises deal with a single point of contact rather than managing each carrier separately.

The company’s SD-WAN managed services are delivered through the Coevolve Response Center, which provides proactive monitoring, performance tracking, and change management across all layers of the solution. The service includes AI-powered end-user experience monitoring through VMware’s Edge Network Intelligence platform, giving network teams direct visibility into application performance at every site without relying on data filtered through a provider’s own reporting tools.

“Network teams spend a lot of time chasing down information that should already be in front of them,” the spokesperson noted. “When you have to call your carrier just to find out why an application is running slowly at a branch office, something is off. This monitoring layer was built so that conversation does not have to happen.”

Coevolve works with enterprises across multiple industries and regions, with an established global partner network that supports deployments in markets where local ISP relationships and knowledge of the connectivity landscape are essential. Each deployment is scoped around what actually works at each location rather than what fits a standardized service catalog.

Enterprises that want to review their current WAN setup or explore what a move to a telco-independent model would involve can get in touch with Coevolve directly through the company website.
