AT&T is creating more than 500 jobs at a new customer call center opening in Mesa this year.

Mesa Mayor John Giles announced the new expansion in his State of the City address last week.

The state-of-the-art, 70,000-square-foot call center is expected to handle 1.4 million calls annually from customers with multiple products and services from the telecommunications company.

“The City of Mesa and Mayor Giles have been excellent to work with as AT&T continues to expand,” said Toni Morales Broberg, president of AT&T Arizona. “We are proud to start AT&T’s new chapter here with hundreds of new jobs. We always want to make sure we are providing our customers with a high level of service they have come to expect, and this new state-of-the-art call center is part that commitment.”

AT&T has begun hiring for the positions, which are full-time with full benefit packages.
