Most brands evaluating an AI service agent ask how many tickets it deflects. That is the least interesting number it produces.
Klaviyo launched Customer Agent in September 2025 and has spent the year since turning it into something other than a chatbot. It is not one model. Each skill runs as its own specialized agent, one for order status, one for returns, one for product recommendations, and a routing layer re-routes between them mid-conversation. It runs on web chat, SMS, email and WhatsApp, supports more than 100 languages, and escalates to a human with full context. Voice calling is coming. In open beta, brands can define new skills in plain language, connect custom tools to outside systems, and set the rules the agent follows.
The part that matters is where it sits. Customer Agent reads from and writes back to the same customer profile the brand’s email and SMS programs run on, so it knows purchase history, browsing behavior and loyalty status before it answers, and writes back what happened after.
That changes what the agent is. Klaviyo says it has exchanged more than 1.3 million messages with customers since launch, and that Naked Wardrobe resolved 86% of its Customer Agent queries autonomously over 90 days, and 94% of product recommendation queries. Earlier in 2026 Klaviyo reported a 28% increase in average order value at the same brand.
Read that last number again. A support tool does not lift average order value. What Naked Wardrobe has is a salesperson.
The logic runs the other way too. The highest-intent conversation a subscription business ever has is a customer asking to cancel, or a payment quietly failing, and those conversations can now be routed to an agent. Whether it offers a pause, a smaller plan, a delay or nothing at all is not a support setting. It is a pricing decision, and it repeats across every subscriber who ever asks.
Somebody has to make that decision, defend it with a number, and revise it when the number moves.
At YOCTO that is the only work we do. We run retention and lifecycle programs for direct-to-consumer and subscription brands: offer and plan structure, the cancellation experience, failed-payment recovery, cohort payback, and the email and SMS programs built on top. We do not run ads or design brands.
Our platform partners publish the results under their own names. Skio documented a 48% cut in cancellations at Gratsi and a reactivation rate that more than doubled. Klaviyo’s own customer library documents 252% email revenue growth in six months at Mira.
Customer Agent will keep getting better at answering. It will never decide what your retention is worth. Configure it as a support tool and you get fewer tickets. Configure it as a retention system and you get a different business.
