What it does: Electrical construction services

DEI efforts: Roughly 11% of all construction employees nationally identify as female — Canyon State Electric (CSE) is composed of more than 15% women, providing ample opportunities for leadership. CSE encourages women working as electricians to pursue their apprenticeship, sponsoring their tuition for the four-year program.

Innovation: In early 2022, CSE’s safety and virtual design & construction (VDC) departments stepped up safety. The company purchased a mobile engine hoist for its fall-prevention training, which was taught to multiple general contractors throughout the year. CSE also launched the Good Catch program, providing employees monetary rewards for identifying and correcting safety hazards on the job site. The company also invested significantly in equipping more than 100 electricians with energy-absorbing helmets, which provide protection beyond Arizona standards.
