Today’s spotlight: Barb Dawson
Snell & Wilmer
Background: Dawson serves on the Executive and Compensation Committees of Snell & Wilmer. She leads teams that represents companies in high stakes investigations and litigation throughout the West. Dawson has chaired the board of directors of Lex Mundi, an international affiliation of more than 160 law firms, and the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation.
Professional advice: “The best starting point is to just work very hard to become as good as you can at your particular area of law, learning from the best mentors that you can find. As opportunities come your way, do not be afraid to fail and know that your best lessons will come from the experiences that were the most uncomfortable.”
Lesson learned in 2020: “I have seen so much exciting innovation during the pandemic. I expect to carry forward a stronger appreciation for how well teams can function if members are allowed more freedom to contribute as they can in conditions best for them.”
Surprising fact: “I am completely tone deaf. Please never ask me to sing karaoke.”
