Today’s spotlight: Carrie Masters
COO
LGE Design Build
Background: Masters has been with LGE Design Build for more than 17 years. She started as a receptionist and has grown into her role as chief operations officer and trusted advisor to the president and CEO, David E. Sellers. Her passion for people and focus on empathy have made her a tremendous leader who cultivates a culture of growth and excellence.
Professional advice: “Have passion and compassion. Loving what you do keeps you curious to learn and your passion will be contagious to others. Perfection doesn’t exist so be kind to yourself. Allow yourself to make mistakes. Those mistakes allow you to learn and improve, you become wiser and better prepared for what’s to come. I once read, “Instinct is really just passion disguised as an idea” so I would take full advantage of your womanly instincts. And lastly, know your worth. Having a clear understanding of your worth as a woman and professional gives you a clear picture of your strengths and weaknesses. You will have more confidence in your decision making and abilities to lead your team.”
Lesson learned in 2020: “Don’t be afraid to do the unexpected. The fear you feel means you are growing. I often say, “On the other side of fear is change, and on the other side of change is growth”. This year has brought change to our world. It has forced many out of their comfort zones. Putting focus on the necessary change and looking at it through a positive lens has really helped us work through the unexpected and embrace the opportunities that have and will arise.”
Surprising fact: “I would love to meet and have lunch with Snoop Dogg.”
