The Downtown Chandler Community Partnership and Waymo will launch a program that provides Waymo Early Riders savings on trips to Downtown Chandler.  The program begins on September 21 and will offer subsidized rides to thousands of eligible Waymo passengers when their destination of choice is Downtown Chandler.

Waymo was founded on a Google moonshot mission to build self-driving car technology that could help reduce traffic fatalities. Over the past 10 years, their vehicles have undergone the world’s longest, toughest driving tests, completing more than 9 million miles and thousands of complex testing scenarios. This collaboration with Downtown Chandler Community Partnerships marks the first time a city downtown has offered residents the unique experience to ride in self-driving cars. Waymo will drop passengers off in the Downtown Chandler historic district allowing riders to explore the variety of locally owned, one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants. Mary Murphy-Bessler, Executive Director at the Downtown Community Partnership, comments, “This partnership provides an inexpensive and safe new mode of getting our customers to Downtown Chandler. We are excited to be a part of this new experience.”

The Downtown Chandler Community Partnership (DCCP) is a 501(c) 6 nonprofit corporation whose mission is to mobilize leadership and resources to advance the development of downtown Chandler as a regional destination for shopping, dining, living, culture, and the arts. It works on behalf of the Enhanced Municipal Services District, created in 2006, to provide enhanced marketing and promotion, safety and beautification of the downtown area beyond what is done by the City of Chandler.
