UMB Bank announced today the formal launch of its Family Wealth offering – a multi-family office registered investment advisor focused on delivering entrepreneurial investment strategies, sophisticated tax planning and generational wealth guidance to families with significant wealth.

“UMB officially entered the family office space because we saw an opportunity to further support both current clients and prospects,” said Nikki Newton, president of Private Wealth Management at UMB. “We were already providing many of these services within Private Wealth Management, and we decided it was time to truly formalize the offering, including hiring and developing a dedicated team of investment professionals.”

In addition to Newton, the Family Wealth leadership team also includes:

Abdur Nimeri, Ph.D., chief investment officer: Nimeri has more than 13 years of financial services experience and will oversee and manage investment management strategy. Prior to joining UMB Family Wealth, he served as head of institutional multi-asset programs for Northern Trust Asset Management in Chicago and is recognized as a distinguished speaker in the investment management industry.

Dan Weeks, managing director: Weeks has more than 10 years of financial services experience. Prior to UMB Family Wealth, he served as a senior financial planner in UMB’s Private Wealth Management division and helped develop and implement holistic wealth strategies for its clients. Prior to joining UMB, Dan was a financial advisor at Sound Stewardship, LLC, a boutique registered investment advisor firm headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas. In addition to managing client relationships at Sound Stewardship, Dan served as head of the firm’s asset allocation committee and was responsible for articulating the firm’s investment methodology to the public.

Team members from UMB’s Capital Corporation will also provide support to the Family Wealth offering. The UMB Capital Corporation is a small business investment company (SBIC) that provides financing solutions via loans, equity and debt securities. These team members bring nearly 40 years of experience and include:

Andre Trudell, director of private investments: Trudell has more than 20 years of experience in the finanal services industry. In his current role, his responsibilities include derivatives, loan syndications and alternative financial solutions, as well as assisting in sourcing and stewarding clients with direct and private equity investment opportunities. He also serves as President of UMB Capital Corporation. Prior to joining UMB, Trudell was employed by Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) Securities Corporation/Pershing, where he was responsible for portfolio management, securities lending and

Jacquelyn (Jacquie) Ward, vice president: Ward joined UMB in 2017 and has more than 10 years of experience in the M&A/transactions space.  In her current role, her responsibilities include sourcing, due diligence, and execution for deals in direct private investment opportunities. She also helps manage the active portfolio companies and provide ongoing analysis at both a company and portfolio level, as well as sitting on the boards for multiple portfolio companies.  Prior to joining UMB, Ward worked at a bank helping manage their venture debt portfolio and in their small business consulting and advisory services gaining experience in venture capital, underwriting and equity analysis.
